| Runnin' With The Big Dogs ![]() | D-Day June 6th 1944 (Normandy Invasion Photos) Thought everyone would like to see some interesting photos, now that I finally figured out the photo posting avenue. You may need to click on the thumb-nails for larger photos? I believe these photos have never been seen, since 1944-1945. I have access to several thousand of these World War 11 photos. These are German "Beetle" mini-tanks. They were constructed and packed with explosives, designed for anti-troop landings on the Normandy Beach-head, in June 1944. Fortunately many of these "Beetle" tanks did not operate correctly. The USN Ordnance experts shown in the photos, are removing the explosive charges. Later, many of these "Beetle" tanks were shipped to England and the US, by USAAF pilots. They used these tanks in many Officers Clubs, as caddies for delivering drinks. They were radio controlled. Hope everyone enjoyed this historical trivia.. Last edited by Marine1; 04-03-2008 at 07:22 AM. |
