NO GO gauge won't chamber

And I don't see why it would ever do that. I know what a "controlled feed" bolt looks like and the MN isn't it. Mine has a conventional bolt with a recessed area to fit the base of the shell. A rather strong ejector sits on the rim of the bolt face. How is the brass rim supposed to get into the bolt face? I have tried bumping the bolt, shoving the gauge into the bolt face and I admit I am confused. This is my first Mosin but I haven't exactly led a sheltered life.

Please help if you can,

John

i don't quite understand your situation, if you are using head space gauges to check your rifle you need to remove the extractor from the bolt in most cases. a no go should never fully chamber on a closed bolt.

If you have these gages you don't have to remove the extractor. All the other gages I've seen for the M/N require the extractor to be removed.

ChaZam,

It worked beautifully....as you can see. Thanks again for your persistence.

John the pic poster.

I have the head space gauge that requires the extractor to be removed....evidently. I received no instructions with it.

Am I wrong in remembering that my Swede, with a controlled feed, simply chambered the dummy HS round.? I did it many years ago and the gauge is lost.

John
