Come on Guys! No one has commented on the custom trigger guard and flat floorplate on the rifle in the top pic? That in my opinion is a fine job of building a custom rifle.
As far as relocating a bolt handle location, I've thought about trying it, and the only reason I could come up with for doing it , other than for a bridge scope mount was if you wanted your mount lower than a handle welded in the standard location could pass under. With the large scopes most shooters use
here again there isn't much advantage there anyways because you would have to use taller rings to keep the front scope lens up off the top of the rifle.
It does look kind of cool though.

I suppose a standard follower and a magazine box from some other gun was put in the top gun, the one without the protruding magazine. It does have the advantage of an extra safety lug, the bolt against the receiver, as is sometimes mentioned for other guns.
I don't know about a silk purse out of a sow's ear but it's darn close.
I do think it's a fine looking rifle. Were I to spend bucks like that I'd prob add the Timney trigger too. "Too much work"? That's bubba talk. This is a step up from most of the Mosin sporters seen here.
Addendum: what the heck? silk purse = "shopping link added by ...." I hope you're getting a nickle each for these, Chris. If so I'll start dropping more in my posts!
I guess I'm weird but I like the timney concept. Better trigger and a functional safety. All this crap going around nowadays about guns not needing safeties is b.s. What's wrong with a gun having a safety? If you don't like the safety don't use it. However, the heavy trigger on the mosin does act as a substantial safety as (until I tuned mine) I couldn't pull the sucker without sweating bullets.

Maybe because 2 knee operations halted any hunting where I'm carrying a loaded weapon through the brush, Mag only hold 5 rounds, and I would need to cycle the bolt again before I fire it, don't need to pre**** it before I'm shooting at paper, afraid that cycling the bolt would alert the critter I'm aiming at will hear it and spook.?
Besides, I am not one of the girliemen who go wahhhhhh, it's too hard to engage it! If I did use the safety, Mosins don't trouble me.
Apparently, stupid sensor program won't let me say preco.c.k here.
