i just had the lgs get this for me!
Barreled Action-Early Russian Nagant Carbine : Other Rifle Accessories & Parts at GunBroker.com
i plan on removing the rear sight and using the dovetail for a scout mount. i may relocate the bolt handle or get a swept back bent bolt. im still not sure what kind of stock to get. i still need a magazine too but im not worried about that yet, what do you guys think?

The carbines do not have a dovetail under the rear sight so you'll have to use one of those cheap mounts that don't hold zero. Or I guess you could use a Darrell's mount.

I think for about $10 more you could have had a complete rifle to work with. In much better condition however good luck with your project and post lots of pictures.

"Early Russian Nagant Carbine"

It's actually a cut down wartime 91/30. It appears to be a 1942 or 1943- hardly 'early'

I agree with Springer.
For 10 or 15 bucks more, you could have gotten a lot higher quality.

It looks like the pins that hold the rear sight have already been removed.

I wouldn't order anything from Buymilsurp. I and many other have had problems with them. Lots of other better places to order parts from.

I commend you on doing what you want and buying what you wanted. Yeah for $10+ more you could have gotten a complete rifle. However that's not what you wanted to do. Congrats on the purchase and good luck with the project. Please post pictures as you go along.

If there is no dovetail you can use Jmeck's scope mount and for a stock Boyds' can't be beat unless you go custom. For your bent bolt send it off to Max_Shepherd they will treat you right and their service is fast. And the work is A+!

It looks to me like a 91/30 with a cut down and threaded barrel. and I too am wondering about how the bore looks and if it would be worth the money in the long run OTHER than for the fun and learning of this project.

I am planning a project like yours also. I was able to get a M38 Stripped barreled action that I am now trying to find the few parts I still need to build it back up. I have a spare M38 stock and some other small parts basically I am thinking about putting a JMECK mount on it 2-4x scope, a turned down bolt handle and making it into a hog hunting rifle.

What are your plans for your build?

This might help you get most of the parts you need and a few others you dont know you need.

i want to go with an ati stock that i plan on modifying and doing in two twon olive and flat black and i want to put my last name in old english letters on it. i dont know if you ever looked at the sights on the ruger scout rifle but it uses the same/similar sight as the newer mini's. i want to use something like that at least for the front and the barrel is already threaded so i just have to figure out what kind of brake to get. i want a one piece mount for the scope but if it dosnt have a dovetail then i have a bunch of mounts and rails that i would like to mess with in order to find a good solution.the bolt will be my biggest challenge cuase im fat and got short arms. i like the max shepard bolts but i would like to relocate my bolt hand using a different bolt handle but thats a maybe becuase i have no "gunsmithing" tools. i do plan on polishing it up first and ill go from there. as for the hole action/ barrel im going to buff it or sand it if i gotta, then becuase im poor and cant afford duracoat im gona use high temp enamel not sure if im going two tone or solid olive or black.

I had no problems with them either until I asked why did I pay for Priority mail and it was sent 1st class? And why when they said it was mailed on a Tuesday when it really didn't go out till Friday? They don't do well with email questions, no one ever answers the phone. Bad attitude.

I had a guy in Sweden order parts from Buymilsurp and he wanted them sent to me because I was already sending a package of parts to him. Buymilsurp refunded his money. Buymilsurp refused to send anything to me, because I made a complaint. Really how old are we??

Google it. Buymilsurp has alot of upset ex customers.
