Got a Hex!

Earlier today I stumbled across the web site of a new shop in Merrimack, NH. Collectable Arms & Ammo is at 557 D.W. Highway. I stopped in this afternoon for a look around, and walked out with a nice looking 91/30, hex receiver dated 1935, for $149. Matching numbers! I couldn't see the bore-- it was plugged solid with cosmoline.

There were three interesting looking Yugo pistols also, just out of the crate and as yet unpriced. Chambered for 7.62x25 if I remember; might be M57's but I couldn't get a close look. Gotta google these babies before I decide if I'm interested. But hey, who doesn't need another pistol?

Anyone in the area who's interested, he's got a few more hexes and a whole bunch of round recievers left. (Lucky for you, I only bought one. ) Plus the usual complement of SKS's of course. (Mausers? what are those?)

Sounds like you will be cleaning out some cosmoline for a bit. Im sure the bore is probally good. Let us know how it shoots when you finally get it cleaned enough to shoot and get to the range. Im sure the pistols were Tokarev M57,s. I would like to find one reasonable in good condition. That sounds like my kind of shop with a little bit of this and that in milsurps and C&R stuff. I would like to see the Mausers. I collect them and am allways looking for certain ones.

Yeppers, get that baby cleaned up and get you a day at the range. Like rando said the odds are pretty good that the bore will be fine. Is it a Tula or an Ishevsk? Pictures of it would be great when you get the time.

If they are Yugo Model 57s, I strongly urge you to grab yourself one. The TT-33s that had to have those kludge-safeties installed before they could be imported are nowhere near as good as the Model 57s. They have the same controls as an M1911. i own one, and my only complaint about it is the spare magazines are difficult to find, though Wideners has them at a price that will make you only grumble, not kick holes in the wall. They are great-shooting guns!

I did today, Chaz, and had a good time. But see my new thread re. failures to feed.

More good news: the bore is pristine!

Oh, it's a Tula. Gotta charge the battery for some pix.
