Talking Mosin Nagant Project: Big Game Assassin Complete

Its been a long journey, destination basically reached.....

How did I do? all Factory barrel markings are intact. there is a gap in the wood by the reciever tang screw and I am gonna relieve it out even more and put a pearl inlay there to encompass the tang and swoop back toward the grip and end in a point like a diamond. soon as I make the inlay, .

still got some little things left to do, but I am going out to set up some ladder stands and camp on/scout some new hunting land with my hunting party, for a pig hunt next mid month.

bringing the Mosin to show it off, of course

Absolutely beautiful!! Great Job. I'm in the process of buying a M28/76 barreled action and you gave me some great ideas about a stock. Thanks for the great info throughout your project.

Stock looks great. I'm not a fan of the long barrel though.

Great job Gunney, she sure is a beaut'. As for the bolt, no need to change it. I have a few bent bolts, but only because of the standard eye relief scope. I prefer to work the stock bolt, as you can really grip and rip though rounds. If anything, maybe a max_shep pull ring cocking piece to engage the safety with gloves on. Think he sells them for $26.

So what load are you going to use?

for hunting-for now, either 203 grain Silver Bear SP's or 180 grain Sellier&Bellot SP's. both perform very well in my rifle. mainly the Silver Bears as they produce slightly better groups and are cheaper.

Indeed, looks sweet! I did something similar with mine, except I cut back the original stock to the lower barrel band, removed the upper wood, refinished the stock with black stain, and installed the Rock Solid scope mount and a nice enough 2-7x 32mm scope on it. Looks good, balances much better, shoots great.
And now for the rest of the story....
Went and bought a Ruger American Rifle in .308. Gave the Mosin to my best bud.
He loves it. It was his birthday, what can I say? LOL
