Mosin Update

Hey everyone, it has been a long long long time since i have posted anything and my first time posting on this account. My old account was sniperkid but i didnt like the names so i made a new one. im just making a thread to show you how my mosin is coming along. so here are some pics.
the picture of the butt plate. i just took a foam pad, poked holes in it, and screwed it down with the buttplate screws.
the other picture is just of the scope and bent bolt
the last picture is of my newest addition to the gun, a bipod.
so tell me what you all think!

I think the first thing you need to do is lose the foam pad and replace it with a David's Collectible type hard rubber buttpad purpose-built for the Mosin. It will improve your length of pull, tame the felt recoil, and will certainly improve its looks!
bullet head and PaleHawkDown like this.

when I re did the stock I went with a really dark walnut color, that's why it looks black. Its really just a dark brown. My dad re did a shotgun with that finish a few years back and I really liked it, so I did it to my mosin

I like dark. I use the slip-on Limbsaver butt pads, so I can move them from one rifle to another. They work well, and you can buy them at Wally World in Winchester packages. You get about another inch of LOP out of them.

I don't like scopes up so high.

Hmm, dark walnut. That might look good on the M44 I am refinishing.

My New England M91 already had a really dark stock, but then it IS actually a walnut stock. I think it looks better than the red. However, a stripped down and well oiled Russian stock is hard to beat sometimes. That natural blonde is pretty wood.

My stock is boiled linseed oil, about 30 coats worth. It took me about 2 months to hand rub that thing!

just following up on my update. i replaced the flimsy swivel stud and my dad and i put a rail on the stock. i got one of the recoil pads and i love it. it made it a lot more comfortable to shoot since i have longer arms. i polished up the bolt a bit, but i could still do a better job at that. speaking of bolts, has anyone on here ever blued their bolt? i think that would look cool and i have been thinking about that. the mount i have on my mosin is awesome. it hasnt lost zero and i have had it on for 1-1.5 year/s now. now i am just waiting for the archangel stock. after the archangel stock comes out i am going to redo the wooden stock again, any suggestions on a finish?

I have this 1932 Tula with a blue bolt. Tennessee Guns Int. had just a few of them and I bought one on their Gunbroker site. (your picture links are working)
