I totally agree with these choice's . If i were to put these in order, based on price & availability locally, it would be as follows:

1. Mosin nagant variant
2. Mauser varient
3. Enfield variant
4. Schmidt rubin k31
5. Springfield m1 garand

Are these choices for collecting or zombie splating? If the latter then where the SKS?

If you get a chance to grab a Kar98k and all matching you had better grab it if the price is right. Worth good bucks to collectors.

Nice thing is I own every one you list there. And usually multiples. The only one I only have one of, is the Swiss K31.

Hey ganny, Christian said "nagant"....................
Those of us here in the mosin forum have mosinitis, its very contagious. Most all of us have numerous Nagant firearms...........---

There are numerous models available, were pretty familiar with them all. Recently i scooped up 2 carbines myself. A Hungarian m44, and a 91/59. I would suggest going through the many pages of threads, you'll be suprised at what you'll find.

I subscribe to iraqveteran8888 , and hickok45 , they are both very cool. Be sure to check out hickok45's mosin vids.

He said Nagant "revolver", which is correct.

I approve. I still need to someday get an M1 Garand. As I always say, I'd trade half my collection for one. But I'm good on the rest, especially Mosins (up to 4 right now and just managed to squash my desire for a fifth by buying a spotting scope instead) and Enfields (2 of those, 1 actually works).

CMP has the lowest online prices for an M1 Garand. If you have a C&R license like me, all you need is to join a CMP affiliated club to qualify for the other half of their requirements. I've gotten two from them so far. Spent like a grand for both, which is about the price of one anywhere else.

Tru dat. Didn't even think of that.

But CMP is still the place to get one. My shooting range qualified as the CMP affioliated place for that part of their requirements to buy one from them.

I agree with his choices. I myself have 4 of the 5;

6 Mosin 91/30's (still need to get that darn M44 tho for #7 )
3 Mausers (Yugo M48, Spanish FR-8, and an M1896 Swede I just picked up yesterday)
1 Lee Enfield (A beat up and hacked No I Mk III* I have no hope of restoring)
1 1941 K31
0 Garands (I do have an M1 Carbine tho, I would like to get a Garand, but the lack of any good surplus ammo nowadays for it is really killing it for me )
