Hypothetical - 30-30 in 7.62x54mm chamber - what would happen?

I know a guy who had a now deceased Canadian Indian friend, a veteran of WWII, to whom he gave a British Enfield. Well bless his heart, he didn't "bubba" it, he "Indianized" it. He did all sorts of mods that I can't remember, but the wildest thing I remember is that when he ran out of 303, he said he'd stick 30-30s in there. Well that looks really dangerous, but I compared their size to a 7.62x54mm cartridge, and they aren't as far off. The neck of the 30-30 would go into the neck of the 7.62x54 chamber. So how would the two situations compare? And what would be different between this and using H&H magnums in a Weatherby, or regular cartridges in an Ackley Improved Chamber.

Them Aussies're nuts! I've heard of them reloading ammo using hardwood blocks carved/drilled into sizing dies. I'm not sure about the H&H deal but most of the Ackley cartridges won't fit into a standard chamber. I always wondered about a .303 Brit in a 54r- think I'll wait for someone else to try it though!

I spent a day one time helping my friend make 375 Weatherby brass. We overloaded 357h&h and fire formed them. Then with horribly sore shoulders we trimmed them all. Then the next day we found 2 bags of 375wby brass for $10 each. Doh!

He died of natural causes, at a venerable age. My friend now has the rifle, which he does not fire, but keeps because of its heritage.
