since there are no stickies here I thought i'd post a few good research links dedicated to our beloved mosin nagant.

www.russian-mosin-nagant.com/ (huge site with loads of info, history, pictures... the works! love that soviet anthem!)

http://7.62x54r.net/ (another big site with a whole lot of pictures. includes Disassembly & reassembly, model identification guide, Ammunition Evaluations, faqs and trivia, and much more)

www.mosinnagant.net/ (home of the famous '110 Years Of The 7.62X54R' article)

www.gunboards.com/forums/ (a well known forum focusing on the mosin nagant as well as other military surplus)

www.surplusrifle.com/ (they have a modest section dedicated to the mosin nagants but a hell of a lot of info on cleaning, rebluing, refinishing, re-everything for all mil surplus rifles & pistols. this site is one of my favorites)

http://world.guns.ru/ (has quite a bit of info on the mosin nagant but also lists just about every military gun that ever entered service!)

well, i think that just about does it for me. i will post more if i can find or remember more, I have done tons of research before I bought the gun and have come across a lot of sites. hope these links benefit you as much as they did me.

yeah, for someone with 16,218 post i dont doubt you've been up and down the internet. but this thread isnt really intended for you old guys. its intended for people who join and lurk the forum looking for info. i want to put all the useful and relevant links in one place so you do not have to surf google for hours looking all this stuff up.

Thanks guys, i dont think it would hurt to make this a sticky in case a newbie stumbles on to this site like I Did. we do have at least 50 guest browsing the forums at any given time

oh, and I forgot to include the Manual.

I was told you got your first Mosin off of an NVA sniper that you nailed with your M-14; somewhere along the border with Laos... That the same one, Papa G?

I got my M91 finn in 1986...maybe 87 It was unfired when I got it and I have bought ....5 cases of ammo over the years and am in need of another case now.
I have had chinese M44's
Soviet M44s
Wayy cool fully engraved sporterized Mosin Nagants
Finn m39 with the bull barrel.
bubbahed m44 with almost no stock
roumanian M44's

all I got now are a pristine sov M44
the engraved thing
and my trusty old ugly stick the Finn m91
I can make accurate shots with my finn at 400 yards all day long
useing iron sights.

Further than that if I needed to

some at the camp fire have seen this.

a good M91 Mosin nagant will shoot like a lazer
M91 30's too
the shorter mosins should be able to hit a man sized target at 300 meters easy.

If you can not hit a 15 inch circle at 300 yards its probably not the rifles fault.

Mosin Nagants are some of the most accurate rifles in the world.
a good finn is "03a3" accurate

actually i snuck up on him, unsheathing my Bowie knife i dispatched the fellow, it was a real battle of wits...but i won any way. then turning i saw ten thousand of his comrades with revenge in their eyes, taking my Bowie knife...i proceeded to carve a path through that wall of human flesh. finally spottig a UH-1 sent for me, but the pilot couldn't penetrate the deceptivly thick undergrowth, grabbing a nearby python...i lassoed the landing skid and was hoisted to saftey.

Nam? Actually, all of that action took place while Papa G was mowing his lawn up in New Jersey....his Nam stories are even better, but still not as good as his French and Indian War stories....saved Washington's butt, a couple of times.

Heck, the old gentleman in Enemy At The Gates, teaching young Vassily to shoot wolves at the beginning - that was based on Papa G! A few years after he nailed the Red Baron back in the WWI!
