C&R license questions

Hello all,

I'm trying to finish up with my C&R license application forms. I have a couple of quick questions.

Where I put my home address the box is pretty small. Since I have 2-3 addresses in the last 5 years, should I somehow attempt to squeeze it all in there? Or should I use of the other address boxes on the following page? (It would be for another person on the license, but I will be the only one.) Or should I attach a different piece of paper? I just don't know.

My other (dumb) question would be, what type of envelope should I mail my completed stuff in? Should I use a large manilla envelope so I don't have to fold it up?

Sorry for the kind of dumb questions, but I really want to get this right. Thanks for any help you can give me. :lucky:

Put the additional addresses on a separate sheet preferably type-written and mail in a legal-size envelope. If you want the official skinny contact the ATF @ www.atf.gov/firearms and send them an e-mail. They usually reply really quick and are pretty helpful.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Don't forget to file form http://www.atf.gov/forms/pdfs/f533020.pdf along with your application! You will have your license delayed until you file this form rapidly. This information is not included in some C&R tutorials or on the application explaining what to send. Been there, done that.

Thanks for the responses. I will type out my other address info on a seperate page, and mail it in a legal size envelope.

Troy, they included that form with the packet they sent me. Thanks for the reminder.

I didn't get a packet from the ATF, so I didn't get that form. I just downloaded forms from their web site and used primers I found online. I found out the hard way.

I ordered a packet a while ago, and haven't sent it back in yet. First I found a deal on some ammo; then my Jeep needed attention; then I needed a router bit to finish the pantry shelves and Harbor Freight had a set of 24 for only fifty bucks; then Big 5 Sporting Goods mismarked a stack of metal detectors during a sale, and I got a $199.99 detector for $59.99; and so on. Guess I need to get my priorities straight.

I try to console myself by remembering that at least I have ONE Mosin-Nagant, and that's one more than some Russian soldiers had in either World War (at least until one of their better-armed buddies went down...).

By the way: I was impressed that at Big 5, after the sales clerk finished banging her head on the wall and crumpling up the sale-price sign that was in front of the wrong model of detector, she asked her manager what to do and the manager said, "ring it up as mismarked and give it to him at that price." No argument, no hesitation.

My local Big 5 has Swiss K-31's on sale for 99.95 right now and I'm broke because I spent all of my "discretionary" money to fix my wife's Camaro's A/C and the front end on my Ranchero. I absolutely hate old cars.

Is that a pretty good deal on Swiss K-31's?

It is for Big 5. You can find them for less online (AIM, SOG, etc.) but then you have to pay shipping, and you can't see them ahead of time.

Hey Troy, you ever used a metal detector before? What do you plan on using it for. I'm assuming it's a Bounty Hunter like Wal Mart sells. They're ok but don't have a lot of depth. I use an old Whites 6000 Di Pro.

Nope, never used one before. The long-range plan is to go back home to Blythe, CA (where I grew up) with it. There's a peak my Dad used to climb with a cave up toward the top. He always said that each time he got there as a kid he'd drop another penny in a buried jar, but was a little fuzzy on the exact location. Meanwhile, I dunno; I'll think of something to do with it. The remains of an old ranch are in the hills behind me; I think I'll go up and circle the old bunkhouse (still standing), and the old house. The house is long gone, but I can see where it was by the old bushes and shrubs that have grown to tree-size...

That sounds like a lot of fun. My grandpa used to comb the shores of Lake Tahoe back in the day, and found a lot of money and some nice jewelry. I think that was before it was common for people to have metal detectors. Anyways, good luck with it~~~

You ought to find some good stuff around the ranch but be prepared to dig a lot of junk. Don't null out the pulltabs, dig them. If you null out the tabs you also null out nickels and gold! I've been doing this for 12 years. I started out only digging for Civil War relics and found quite a few but it's getting too hard to find them now. Now I just mostly coin shoot when I get time which isn't very often these days. I've got some nice coins, had most of my seated liberty and capped liberty stuff stolen tho, by either a trusted friend or a relative. Anyway it's some of the most fun you'll ever have. Some of the most aggravation you'll ever have and you'll definately work harder for less than you ever have in your life. LOL!!!! I've dug in the hot summer sun all day for fourteen cents. LOL!!! Get a good dig knife. I use a Russian AK bayonet. It'll take a lot of abuse. Also you need to get a pinpointer. it's like a minature detector with a probe. It only picks up a quarter inch or so but it'll help keep from cutting coins. Nothing is worse than to dig a beautiful capped bust fifty cent piece and find a fresh gouge across the face. Or worse a cartridge box plate with an X carved in it. Anything I can help you with just let me know.
