Gone Huntin'

Happy Thanksgiving guys! I'm off to the farm to see how the scout-scoped M-44 works on west Tx. whitetails. I hope to be posting the results shortly. :right:

Welp, that was a bust! I didn't even try to hunt-too much company. Turns out my youngest son, nephew, bro-in-law, and bro-in-laws' bro all had the same idea as me and there is only a small area out there that is huntable. May try again in a day or two.

It's a Tasco Trophy Class 2x20 pistol scope but other than that it's all original. I also have a 91\30 sporter project in the works but my grandkids lost the bolt stop screw so I'm at a standstill on it. I would like to hunt with my M-39 but it's not scoped and my eyes aren't good enough in dim light for iron sights.

Palo Duro is a right neat canyon. Can you hunt there in a state park? My youngest son used to call that city just to the northwest, "Armadillo". I wonder what he would have called Abilene?

Hey Toolman, you should have faked an accidental discharge into the air with that M44. Those other boys might have left and found somewheres else to hunt...

Best wishes!

Not sure about the state parks, JAMES. The AD method might work with almost any other family members, but mine are all rednecks who are likely to shoot back! I still haven't had time to get back out to the farm but the Bro-in-Laws have been taking some really good deer off of the place. Last year one missed making Boone and Crockett by less than 3 points overall.
