While I agree that, unless you reload, Swiss ammo can be difficult to find and expensive when you do. That is the ONLY negative when compared to a Mosin Nagant. Somparing a Swiss K-31 to a Nagant is like comparing a Lamborgini to a Yugo. I think the Mosins hold a valuable distinction of WWII but of all that I own there isn't one..not one..I'd consider taking into battle only due to the fact that, regardless of what I have done to the chambers, they still stick like H E double all get out. For about the same price as a 44...and below what a 91-30 costs you can pick up a Swiss K-31 that a). doesn't have the sticky bolt problem, b). has a much sweeter non-military trigger, c). can generally shoot sub MOA, d). technology and machine works often compared to a fine Swiss watch, e). has a different, but fine, history of their own, and f). one that generally can shoot sub minute groups at 100 yards.

| Can't go wrong with gasoline on the metal, not the stock though. Be sure to clean it a lot before shooting. Buy an array of solvents and lubes and see what you like the best. I like shooters choice and a good de-geaser. YOu need a good solvent to take care of that pesky cosmo.

| Dale, you also have to clean the bolt, not just the chamber, but i used to have extremely bad sticking problems ,then i cleaned the chamber real well, and still had them, and then i cleaned the bolt really well and all my sticking problems have stopped, with both my 91/30(cleaned it real well right away so never had sticky problems) and my M44. |

| Well, I have had k31's and Have mosins I like mosins better for shooting. because it is a lot easier to get good with it. I have fired my m91 finn literally thousands of times and I know how it shoots I know how to set the sights I know how it feels, I know how to make accurate shots with that rifle. the K31 is a fine rifle butttt,.......... it is almost impossible to get enough quality ammunition assembled together for the K31 to be able to fire it enough to get to know it like I know my mosins. and I have not had much sticking problems with any of my Mosin Nagants over the years I think i have had at least ten or twelve. I have 3 right now. just remember Clean Clean Clean clean the bolt reset the fireing pin depth make shure all the cosmo is out of the bolt body and the fireing pin / spring is clean and not binding Mosin Nagants have "over" strong striker springs this is because mosins are required to operate in very cold climates. since we are no where close to being any where close to northern siberia ya might try taking 1 (one) coil off the main spring and see if that helps your binding issue. Mosins cock on opening so a lot of energy is expended opening the bolt so ya gotta compress the spring (cock it) AND un stick the used cartrige case too. if you have a problem let us know.
