91/30 replacement stock sets

I was browsing around today, and stumbled onto David's Collectibles. I've never dealt with these people, and know nothing about them. But they have used 91/30 stock sets for sale, supposedly in arsenal refinished to excellent surplus condition. Each set includes all hardware, bands, butt plate, upper handguard, and nose guard.

If anyone knows bad things about this dealer, please speak up. I'd hate to steer someone into a bad deal.

I will try to get them on the phone this morning, and talk with them a bit. They are on the other end of N.C., about a 6 hour drive.

I would really like to have "new" wood for my M91/30. The wood on my stock is warped, and it shoots much better without the hand guard and rings.

I just got off the phone with David, and he seems to be knowledgable, and a good guy. They have been in business for 25 years.

I told him what I needed and he gave me the part# for the Hex receiver. (M91/30A) $42.99 + $8.90 shipping. $51.89 will get me a "new" set of wood for my favorite rifle.

I will let you know what it looks like when I get it.

I received the "new" stock for my M91/30 today. It looks pretty good. I will drop it off with the gunsmith so he can cut the grove in it for the turned down bolt. He does a professional looking job, where as It looks like a guy with a drimmel tool did it, if I do it.

I also ordered a pack of 20 stripper clips, for $14. and change. They look like the five I allready have. (and can not find) They should be good ones.

Post up some pics when you get it back! Are you going to refinish the wood?

No. I am not a woodworker. If I tried to make it "pretty", I would probably ruin it. Some folks have the skills, but I dont. I am smart enough to realise that, and pay attention to that little bit of knowledge. I think it looks pretty good as is.

The "new" stock is Russian, where the "old" stock was a laminated Finn. stock. The Ruussian stock has a deep, almost red, look to it. I like it like it is.

The old stock was warped and caused my groups to be about 3 1/2 to 4 inches at 100 yards. When I removed the hand guard, and rings to take pressure off the barrel, my groups came in to 1 to 1 1/2 inches.

I am hoping the Russian stock "shoots" better than the "old" stock.

I'll let you know what happens. I'll post pics if I get them.

If this is allowed here, and anyone needs the "old" stock? (It is for the HEX receiver) Let me know at: ninwnc@webtv.net

Laminated? Or fingerjointed?

I've never heard of a laminated Finn stock.

Of course, I'm far from a world-renowned expert on the subject.

Laminated is probably the wrong word. The book says Finger-Mortised and all 2 pieced stocks are from Finland. It also has the Finland arms depot mark on the right side of the rear of the stock. It also has the two screw holes for the screws next to the front and rear band positions.

As best as I can tell it's a Finn. The action is of Finnish origin also.

I sent you an email about the stock at ninwnc@webtv.net, ninwnc. I'd be interested in it.

You need to send the e-mail agan, as I probably deleted it as I didn't recognise the e-mail address. Use the subject line M91/30, and I will know what it is. Too much spam comes to my address, so if I don't know the sender, I just delete it. Sorry.

For some reason my email site is being cranky this morning; I can't get back into it. I just said I'm interested in the stock, and asked you what you wanted for it. Would you include all the hardware with it?
