| How to stake front site? After several hundred rounds the front site must have rattled loose. It's now so loose that it won't stay in postition. What is the best way to stake it into place? I would prefer to do a low impact and reversible method if possible, so I can adjust it in the future if I need to. Also, is the original index mark on these typically accurate? My aim seems to be pretty good, but I wonder if it needs to be re-sited. |

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | Remove the frt. sight and using a sharp metal punch, make a slight crater right along the edge of the dovetail that the sight fits in. When you slide the sight back on, it should fit tight. i wouldn't put too much stock in the index marks as thousands of these were re-worked at various arsenals, captured by opposing forces, parts swapped, repaired in the field, etc... On the positive side, Many of these will shoot to MOA or smaller with good ammo.

| does your mosin have a bayonet? when these rifles were sighted in at the armory they had the boyonet extended which changes the point of impact. when i took my m44 out for the first time it shot to the right abot 2 inches. i Knocked the sight over a bit and now it is a tack driver! as for the sight either use the toolmans fix or you can use solder to build up the contact points.
