I'm scared.. I'm stopping in at SOG

I have a job this week and will be within 20 miles of Southern Ohio Gun.. I'm stopping by and I'm scared I'll loose self control..

I need a laminated stock M44, right??

$100 and no shipping..

Only if you really intend on using the pig-sticker. Otherwise, I'd suggest the M38 for the weight savings and not needing to extend the bayonet to not shoot "Down and to the left" by 4 inches.

Me, I love my 91/30. It and my CETME are cozy in the safe right now... but dang I really want a Sig 226 Elite in .40S&W. *fantasizes*

You should be, but it's a good fear...

I have to agree with this post. If you don't need the bayonet the M-38 is the better option and I believe harder to find. Though, I haven't checked on that.

Problem is, I have a nice M38 but I don't have a laminated stock M44.. The M38 is 10 bucks cheaper though....

As long as you have an FFL or C&R, they'll sell to you. Unfortunately they don't do counter sales to the public.

Yeah, I've been a C and R mail order customer for a while. They said today that if I call and give them a hour or so notice, I can pick up at the warehouse.

It's probably a good thing they don't let you wander through the aisles, picking up what you need (want)..

I'm just happy not paying for shipping and not worrying about damage by UPS. (Getting paid to travel past there is a slight perk, too..)

Paper, see your in Rockton. The MC Sports in Rockford has them. They were on sale a few weeks ago for $89.99, with laminated stock. Their sales tend to stay on for some time (just a $60 off sticker on a $149.99 gun). Picked mine up a few weeks ago for $96 with tax, and it is a beauty. Although, if I were going to be near SOG I wouldn't be able to resist either.

I want an old beater gun to toss in the truck when I go camping to fend of bears and whatever else. The M38 is ideal for this, but I haven't been able to find one at a decent price. I have seen really good M44s in the 70-80 range, but no M38s. Is the bayonet detachable?

I have the same want, but more for home defense, since a 91/30 is rather unwieldy indoors. The bayo is removable, as I've seen it removed on a few pics, but many people call that a "bubba'd" gun. I have no idea if it's removable and reattachable or if you have to do it permanently. I really like the idea of slapping an ATI synth stock, bent bolt handle and rear-leaf-replacement pistol scope onto an M38; would make a nice, light, accurate, POWERFUL, self-defense/survival rifle.

The gun guys at MC Sports will let you pick and choose, too.. Somebody in management was on the ball and actually hired guys who like guns, in the gun department..

I've picked up occasional ammo and other odds and ends there, but I haven't bought a gun in there..

I'll have to wander in there when I get back. Right now I'm in Maysville, KY, but will be bouncing back home tomorrow, through Cincinnati.. I think I smell credit card burning...

Do any of you guys know what the 91/30 Laminate, and CZ52's are going for at SOG? I guess they restricted the non-C&R holding public from seeing the prices. I'm about to have the owner of my local pawn shop order me a Mosin, and I don't want to get ripped off, but SOG went and changed their stuff around.

Car, the bayo is easily (and non-permanently) removable, although the bayo lug is another story.

Laminated 91/30 is $99.95 for 1, or $5 off each if you order more than one.

CZ52 is $124.95 on sale right now.

I ordered a couple rifles, but I couldn't make it there before closing, so I'm camping out on the north side of Cinci until morning and picking up a laminated M44 and a K98 German Mauser with all the stamps and dates.

12 hour day in the paper mill didn't make well for getting to SOG before closing..

Thank you very, very much for the quote, Paper. That was very helpful. Bummer to hear about not getting there, but at least you get to go tommorow. Do they have a walk-in store, or is it just a big warehouse?

Just a warehouse.
I think a store would be a bad thing for me..
