| Interesting...... 1944 Izhevsk Did some research and that is what I found to be the year of my M44. I had another question as well though does anyone make or know how to rework the trigger and spring to make the pull different I also seem to have a bit of play in the trigger. I would like to clean that up some. It does not have to be a perfect setup nor a hair trigger. The rest of the rifle is soooo clean. I still have a hard time believeing that this was it's original barrel but it is a numbers matching rifle and does not look like a atempt to just restamp the numbers onto the new barrel. Any help on the trigger would be great my finger is itching. LOL |

| Try removing the sear spring\bolt-stop and use a fine-tooth round file to remove metal from the sides of the spring so that it resembles a "Y" shape. Do this a small amount at a time and try the trigger pull every so often until you get the pull you desire. Don't be tempted to lighten the pull too much as you can cause the spring to break. When you get the pull you desire, use fine sandpaper to deburr the sharp edges and touch it up with cold blue. I don't really know of a cure for the trigger slop other than rigging a small spring to hold light tension on it but it doesn't really bother me. My 91\30 and M-39 both have lightened sear springs and they work great except my M-39 is almost TOO light. It has a long pull but there is really no perceptible breaking point or stacking-just a long smooth stroke until the gun fires. If you are unsure of this, you might want to get an extra spring to work on from Tennessee Gun Parts or Springfield Sporters so you can keep your original.

| I HIGHLY suggest looking at AK Hunter's links, as I was about to post those myself after reading your initial post. That Huber Concepts trigger looks like a really great idea and I'll likely get one for my 91/30 sometime in the near'ish future.
