| Senior Member | Help me identify this ammo. I got a crate of what I believe is Czech ammo for my Mosin. It is in a sealed tin inside a wood crate. The markings on the crate are as follows. Can anybody tell me the bullet weight?: 780 28/63 bxn 7.62-59 1bpl/FE 24 kg Netp 1.2 x 0.4/1.2 KF nma Also, at the sound of being totally stupid, how the heck do you open the tin? |

| Super Moderator ![]() | I dont know unless it is yellow striped Heavy Ball, there would be yellow stripes on the Can...It is probably 147 Gr. Is there a Can Opener in the crate anywhere ? Usually strapped under the lid... Rich

Sometime after that, I realized I wasn't so smart after all. When I originally pried the lid off the crate, I set it on a shelf out of the way, nails down so no one would poke themselves. A couple of months later, I knocked the lid onto the floor. It landed upside down, and waddaya know: there was a big*** can opener attached to the bottom side of it! Derrrrr..... ![]()

| Senior Member | My gunsmith. He even brought it to my house. All I had to do was write the check for the Czech. ![]() I think he has more, but this should last me a while, as I just reloaded 120 with boxer primers. Last edited by gandog56; 12-02-2007 at 04:17 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Senior Member | hey bud, its zchek military ammoif i spelled that right . although i don't know the weight of the ammo, personally i have used it before and it fires pretty good. these cases of ammo can sit in armory's for years but they are very well preserved and fire pretty good. to open them they usually have this handle can opener deal that ships with them. ive only recieved one once. use a can opener no joke. not the plug kind the old school can openers |

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | I believe most of the Czech ammo is 148 gr. unless it has a yellow tip which is heavy ball and is, I believe 182 gr. A lot of the heavy ball was built for machine-gun use and subsequently has higher pressures and recoil so make sure your gun is up to the task of firing it.

| Senior Member | Thankfully Troy you lived to write about your opening experience. You could have taken a torch and just melted the solder. The Hungarian comes with a can opener. Guess we are on our own with Bulgarian. Quote:
