| Loose barrel? Well, i took my M44 to the range, and while cleaning it afterwords, i noticed that the barrel seems loose, i.e. i can visably wiggle it with very little effort. How much play is normal, and how can i fix thais? |

| Barrel bands do not cntrol barrel play. Is the barrel loose in the action? Bad thing. Is the entire barreled action loose in the stock? Different situation. Barrel bands may have something to do with this. |

| Barrel bands are tight, and the action doesnt seem loose at all. I'm probably gonna disassemble the whole shebang this weekend and have a look at it. |

| To be safe, have a good gunsmith check it for safety.

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | That's extremely weird. M\N's are notorious for the barrels being so tight they are generally considered to be a permanent part of the action. Some of these old guns used a metal shim to tighten the action up in the stock if the action is wiggling around.

| Super Moderator ![]() | If the Barrel is Loose, I would check for a cracked receiver...AS was stated by Toolman, those barrels are notorious for being very tightly torqued, and a loose barrel is Unusual...to say the least. Rich

| Usually a wobbly feeling barrel just means that the action screws have come loose. Don't overtighten the front one, just snug it up well.

| check the action screws with a screw driver and see that they are truly tight one on top behind bolt and one underneath in front of trigger guard ,,I would bet that they are loose if not check reciever because you def have a problem.. good luck! |
