| M91/30 7.62x54 Thinking of getting one of these and would like to ask a few ???'s like what is their accuracy range (without a scope)? Also, is there any difference between 7.62x54R and 7.62x54 (no R). On a funny note, a friend told me, when I said I was looking at these, told me "You know, these are war surplus JAPANESE rifles?". I just chuckled to myself. He is of the belief that if it doesn't say "GLOCK" on it it isn't worth owning. He also told me he has never shot a gun other than a pistol. |

| Accuracy ****NOTICE IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST RIFLE, GET A RECOIL PAD, THEY KICK...A LOT**** ALSO THE M44 VARIANT HAS SEVERAL AVAILABLE MUZZLE BRAKES, THEY HELP. HERES THE LINK Mosin Nagant Rifle Muzzle Brake 4" Long - MOSIN NAGANT by Combathunting.com Scopes just add a little magnification, but other than adding a little weight they just improve the degree of accuracy. Without the bayonet on they tend to shoot a little high due to less weight on the end of the barrel. Mosin bayonets were rarely taken off the gun. A magazine I read said it like this:"Mosin Nagant bayonets were either on the rifle, slung on the belt or opening a tin of borscht." Plus the rifle is only marked to a minimum 100 yards. 7.62x54R has a rim at the bottom of the round. The R, in fact, designates the round as rimmed, not Russian. 7.62x54 looks like other standard rounds, going from the cartridge case, narrowing and then flaring back out around the primer. As for being a GLOCK lover theres nothing wrong with that if you like hairpin triggers and cheap plastic frame Last edited by Mosin Shooter; 01-24-2008 at 02:33 PM. |

| Jim : yes they do but I am not a big fan of muzzle brakes but then thats a personel issue..If you putting one on for recoil purpose just get a slip on recoil pad.. BTW jim are you in around the viburnum area? |

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | WHOA WHOA WHOA! First place, a M91/30 does not kick alot! Second, If he's talking about a M91/30 why is there a ref to a M44 muzzle brake? Thirdly... Scope? Just add weight and magnification? 4th... Most infantrymen were never issued a bayonet scabbard or any way to store the bayonet OFF of the rifle.
