I was just having a moment of clarity...Few and far between! Besides, someone has to call BS to Billy, just to check his packin's! As smart as he obviously is, we need to ensure he's not trying to sell us a coke bottle and potato again...

Like they all are saying a scope makes it easier to see the target but has no effect on how good the rifle shoots a good barrel is good and a bad one is bad. I knew a guy that would bet people he could shoot better without a scope than they could with, of course they thought he was nuts and bet him and then he would drag out his rifle with the quality peep sights on it and show them.

My father shoots his M39 off hand with iron sights and keeps them in the 10 ring at 100yds and that's with cataracts and trifocals! I'm still trying to figure out how he does it. A scope will help you see the target clearer at greater distances but accuracy is up to the shooter.

I regularly shoot deer at 175-200+ yds with a 2x20 scout-scoped M-44 that I wouldn't even be able to see otherwise. I don't use a cheekpad but I've never really had a problem. I'm using a Tasco Pro-Class scope and a B-Square mount and 30mm rings.
