receiver wobble

While working the bolt on my M44, I noticed that the receiver moved as I pulled the bolt back. After looking it over I realized that there was a hole right in front of the magazine on the underside of the gun. Is there supposed to be a screw of some sort here? Or is it just a hole and the wobble part of being a really old gun?

If I am missing a screw, any idea on where I could find a replacement?

Thanks for your help.

Stitch, I believe you're talking about the front hole for the action screw. There are two screws that hold the action into the stock. One goes into the ft. of the action from the bottom side and the other goes in from the top behind the bolt. You can get a replacement from Springfield Sporters
