Surplus AMMO ID.

Went to other sites and could not find out any info about my ammo other that it is 7.62X54R. I believe the dealer said it was ROMANIAN. It is NONCORROSIVE. The head stamp reads TOP: It looks like NNY Bottom: 1975

Have any info?

Would my mosin 91/30 I have shoot this well? I just bought it and haven't shot it yet. I think it might be a factory refurbish. Wood and metal as well as the bore look very decent. It was made in 1938. It has the triangle with arrow in it.

What do you think it will shoot at 100 yards?

Gotta warn you Jay. There are critters on this site that will read your description of your rifle and try to get you to send your rifle to them for "inspection". The lure of a fine rifle that will shoot that ammo just fine is too much for some people. Especially people with silly Avitars.

Here is a link to the 7.62x54r.net ammo evaluation site for 1976 Yugo if you want to find out more:

Yugoslavian 1976 7.62x54r Lead Core Heavy Ball

I wonder if it really is non-corrosive?

IF ITS MANUFACTURED IN ANY OF THE OLD SOVIET BLOCK COUNTRIES
THEN ITS CORROSIVE.

Of course they do. Without shooting it, or pulling a bullet, I have to stick with my orignal statement.

I dont think anyone will be able to tell you how it will shoot but it is capable of shooting 2 inch groups at 100 yrds !! Depends on lotta factors including shooters ability
7.62x54r.net
this site has more info on about any thing you want to know about mosins

BTW as steve said ,,I treat all ammo as corrosive if I have any doubt at all!

Exactamundo marion. Being made in 1975, it might be noncorrosive though.

I took my rifle to the range today. What a SPECTACULAR performer for a $100 dollar rifle. Tried it at 50 yards first to see where it hit. I was stunned. Three shots into about an inch. Almost to the EXACT point of aim. Aimed at the 6 o'clock position. It was like an inch above, slightly to the left. Tried it at 100 yards...2.6 inch group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a keeper! Great looks and great shooting!

I get a charge out of the ones that state "Mildly Corrosive".. I guess that's like "Mildly Pregnant"..

I don't worry about recent manufactured stuff, like Wolf or Brown Bear, but anything that's Mil-surp, I clean right after use.. I have a bunch of 1944 8mm Mauser ammo, and I'd hate to guess what would happen if I set the rifle away for a couple days after shooting it..

I read that PRVI-Partisan ammo tested as Corrosive too.
I treat all of it as corrosive unless I load My own...
