Impressed with my M91/30

I have had my '42 Izzy for about a month and finally got out to a 500+ yard outdoor range. After a bit of adjustment to the front sight with a punch and small hammer I managed to hit the 400 yard steel gong pretty consistently. My ex-marine marksman buddy had never shot one before and had a great time with it. He then he proceeded to give a demo to those present on how to properly use the bayonet in close quarter combat. A fun day!

As soon as my C&R arrives - time to buy an M44!

400 yards with open sight that are not peep sights IS quite a show of expert marksmanship! Like I said before. I was surprised at how well my Izzy 91/30 shot! But at that range I will leave those open sights to you younger gents.

I bet the bayonet demonstration was a hoot to watch. That is, as long as the muzzle of that Izzy was not pointing at people while he was demonstrating.

It's even more fun with a carbine. We have a lot of MN owners at the range I frequent, so it not a big surprise. I take that back... everyone still enjoys the fireball.

My Step son and I have our hunter's safety field test Saturday. We are supposed to bring our own firearms for the test. I plan to bring two M44s! I want to see the look on their faces when I "affix" bayonet! No live fire so no fireball but I am sure I will attract some attention!

Important safety Tip DO NOT fire your Mosin Nagant ESPECIALLY a M44 in the prone position while in a dry grassy area.......
I heard it is possible to start a grass fire and burn up your friends trailer....

Sounds like the kind of time we'd all love to have at the range. And welcome to the G&G.

Does it have to be an M44 or will my 91/30 ex-sniper with bayo affixed do?

The 91/30 just requires more rounds per pound as the fireball isn't quite as substantial. Cosmolene... it's not just for breakfast anymore.

I wonder if the guys at the DNR range I shoot at would mind if I tried that. LOL! I guess if I told them it was a stunt for YouTube and obeyed all safety regs....

Yep, looking forward to getting an M44 for the impressive fireball effect. Going to have to shoot it at night sometime with a frankfurter firmly deployed on the bayonet - I'll shoot video! If only my C&R would arrive . . .40 days and counting since application!

The best fireball I've had was using Bulgarian or Czech heavy ball. So it would follow that these would work well for bayo braised cuisine.

I gotta get me a button with that on it! There are a lot of guys at the club who shoot ex-military rifle who'd get a charge out of it.
