Mosin Model Identification

This is a quick tool to identify which specific model of Mosin Nagant rifle you have. Just start at the top, answer the question, and follow the instructons. For a tool with pictures go to Mosin Nagant Rifle Model Identification Guide

#1 How long is your rifle in inches?
a. 51 1/2 - Go to #2
b. 48 1/2 - Go to #4
c. 46 1/2 - Go to #5
d. 40 - Go to #8
#2 What is the date on your barrel?
a. 1891-1925 - Russian M91
b. 1926-1927 - Finnish M91
c. 1940-1943 - Late Finnish M91
d. No Date - Go to #3
#3 What is the marking on the chamber?
a. "Crowned" S - Finn M24. With "Schweiz" is a Sig; "Bohler" is German.
b. P-number - Finnish "P Series" M91.
c. Upside down triangle witha "T" in it - Finn M91
#4 What style is your rear sight leaf?
a. Curved - Soviet Dragoon.
b. Flat - M91/30
#5 What style is you rear sight leaf?
a. Curved - Go to #6
b. Flat - Go to #7
#6 What style is your nose cap?
a. Open on top - Finn M28
b. Closed on top - Finn M27
#7 How far is the front sight from the muzzle?
a. Approx 1/2" - Finn M28/30
b. Approx 1" - Finn M39
#8 Does it have a foldng bayonet?
a. Yes - M44 or T53 Chinese
b. No - Go to #9
#9 What is the width of the front sight base?
a. 1/2" - Go to #10
b. 3/4" - M91/38
#10 Is your rear sight long or short?
a. Long - Soviet M91/59
b. Short - M38

That click able picture guide is amazing...no joke.

If only they had that for families of diptera, I would have an easy job...for that matter if gunandgame.com didn't exist I would be better at my job O_o lol.
