It's got a sort of musket look to it with no upper fore end and no sights.

That is an interesting rifle! Have not seen those markings before either. Where did you find it?

It is a scrubbed/refurbed Sesty with "upgraded" stock, magazine, and front band.

All the early M91's are pretty rare. If it had the original/correct parts it would definitely be a rare one! But, as we know, so many were refurbed.

That's the old Imperial Russian seal. Must be an original M1891. Where on earth did you find it and do they have any more of them?

if it's what it's claimed to be, it's rarer than that. it's supposed to be a remington prototype. it's for sale on gunbroker.

There's no way to verify that it is a Remington. So, unless he has a handwritten letter stating so, it's just a bunch of hooey. I don't think Remington would release one wihout their name on it to boot.

R5CYA- I did find it on Gunbroker. You left out the 2 most important pictures! I am sitting at my desk eating a BIG plate of CROW!

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the Remingtons had an "R" stamped on the receiver.

Ype, it was no Sesty. My Sesty M91 has a different crest. At least it has the sights still on it too! Good shooters, those old M91s - though the Arshin sights are a bit different, for sure. You'd need a long shotgun case too, as the normal rifle cases are too short.

Dammit, why do these exotic ones always come up when I don't have the spare cash to buy them?
