I've got a 1943 stamped M44, seen better days I'm afraid, but she's in good hands now.

I have a new polish m44 dated 1953. It has never been fired and is tight as a mouse tick. The question is do I shoot the crappy easternblock ammo through or just hand loads.

Guess I should stick my 2 cents in...

1938 M91/30, Tula. Bought it a couple months ago at a Big 5 for $89 + all the usual BS, still haven't cleaned it all up or shot it. Looks to be in pretty good shape, except the stock looks like it was refinished with a dirty sock. Definitely need to strip it down and scrub it, but at least I've got 600 rounds of Bulgarian heavy ball for it now. Two US ammo cans full, yeehaw!

I shoot hand loaed ammo in my 1947 M44 w/ scout scope because it makes a difference in consistancy and accuracy, but occasionally I shoot Bulgarian heavy ball, when I'm in the mood for bruising and cleaning the rifle soon after shooting. The only thing crappy about Russian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Czech MilSurp ammo is corrosive primers. They have always been damn accurate in my MN's.

My Mosin

A M44. I am currently hunting Whitetail with a 270 Mossberg ATR but I hunt Moose and Black Bear with my M44 and 203 gr Silver Bear. Some of my friends laugh at me until they see how well the Mosin shoots.
