Man them hex receiver mosins are beautiful! Next gun show that comes around in april I'm buying me a hexagonal receiver mosin! Gotta have all matching numbers, good bore, good crown and all that before I buy it though. Wood won't be as big of a deal because it can be refinished.

Got my first Mosin!

1932 Tula, matching numbers, very nice wood and finish with a couple of small dings, probably from the bayonet pack in the box. As close to new looking as can be expected for a $69 rife that is 77-years old. Looks counterbored and has some interesting small markings on the hex receiver that I can't find in other people's pictures. Picked it out in Prescott @ J&G. Fun to shoot & kicks real good. Will be picking up a LER scope, scout mount and a recoil pad soon, the I'll determine if it's accurate at all. BTW, my shoulder kinda hurts after shooting it for an hour.

I popped my Mosin cherry today at the gun show, since I had some extra money from the sale of another rifle, I splurged and bought a M39, 1943 Sako. Finish is thin, but bore is bright and rifling is sharp. It should be a great shooter.

Had a great time at the range today with the new Mosin. Shot 120 rounds and she seems to be very accurate. The guy next to me was shooting an M44 and several people came up to chat about them. Crazy how many people like these old girls. I don't know all too much about them but I've gotten more compliments on this inexpensive gun than any of my other more spendy purchases. I'll post pictures soon.

Actually I have another Mosin, that was left to me. A Vietnam capture, M44 dated 1960,I think it's CHinese. It was my stepdad's. It's pretty rough, but still functional. A nasty rifle from a nasty war.
