My latest MN is a Finnish M39 SKY Sako dated 1942. The bolt has a lined out number on the side but the knob is stamped to match the receiver. It has the appearance of being original since there is no bluing on the metal and the wartime stock looks as if it's seen a lot of use but no cracks. It has the SA stamp on the side of the barrel so it may have seen some wartime service. The SKY touche is prominent on the stock but is not dated. The bolt and some other metal parts have the early Izhevsk marking. The barrel is very good but has some mileage on it. The rifling is prominent but the barrel is a little dark (haven't cleaned it yet). I haven't taken it apart yet to see what markings are on the tang. Overall I'm very happy with my new find. It wasn't as inexpensive as a 91/30 but while I was still in the store another guy came in looking to buy it. I don't have any photos yet but will soon and if i can figure out again how to post them I will. I now have 3 wartime M39s and 2 unissued ones. I love these old worn rifles........they're a match for their new owner.

Thanks Steve. I took it apart last night and it has L916 stamped on the tang with a hammer stamped below that. It has what looks like many decades of dirt/sand between the action and stock. It looks as if it's never been taken apart before. I did some cleaning of the bore and it's beginning to show some shine..........not blinding like my Persian Mauser but much better than it was. I need to revisit 7.62X54 to see if L916 is the date of mfg. and what the hammer stands for. There is a number stamped on the end of the cocking piece that none of my other MNs have.

That's what i was thinking but i didn't find any mark on 7.62X54 that looks like the L916. The cocking piece has a serial number and I've found that it's from an 1891. It's an interesting rifle with all the different armory marks. It looks like an old warhorse that's why I bought it even tho the exterior metal is pitted.

Cool

I went to a gun show today and sold my 1944 Round Izzy for $120 and bought a 1935 Hex tula for $140. My "collection" (LOL) is now
1 1929 91/30 Hex Izzy (all matching numbers)
1 1935 91/30 Hex Tula (all matching, mag force matched)
1 1946 M-44 Izzy. (all matching numbers).
Still looking for a M-38, M-91, M-91/59. Then the finns!

That would mean no gain. One member has one more, one has one less.
