Just bought my first Nagant this morning, as a matter of fact. Waiting for my photo thread to be screened by a Mod but, until then, here are just a few that I took earlier on. For the record, I'm still in the process of identifying her.

Wow, that is in fantastic shape. Do the parts match?

It looks a lot like my 91/30 1943 Izhevsk rifle. in fact, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. but the bolt handle looks odd to me, so there may be more to it.

I really need a better camera... I wish my pictures turned out that well.

I own two m44's. One, my first purchase is still 100% original, but the other I bought off of my friend (after shooting mine, he bought one, but shortly joined the army and gave it to me), which I've put on a Advanced Technology stock and I'm trying to decide whether to go with a standard scope mount, with a bent bolt, or go with a forward scout type scope setup, with unlimited eye relief (which I'm leaning toward).

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, all the parts match up, and the bolt is the original from 1943, from what I understand. I'm going with your theory that it's a '43 Izhevsk for the time being, but I'm going to tour around the Mosin Identification thread and measure up the rifle before making any final judgements.

Also, I kind of cheated. I am a Firearms Owner and a Forum Frequenter on a lot of sites... but I'm also a Semi-Professional Photographer and Photo Teacher. So it's all good.

^ I agree it looks like a Izzy, 7.62x54r.net has tons of info about MNs.

XD- Go with the scout scope idea, no reason to permanently alter the m44.

I've had photography classes, I just can't seem to get my camera to take a good picture for the life of me.

That thread has pictures of mine. It's pretty similar, but your stock is in way better shape.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've only seen one setup, which you remove the rear sight pin, and replace the sight with a scope mount, but I've read that those can be wobbly...any suggestions?
