Great looking rifle. An arctic camo pattern might have been more in tune with the Finn theme . I still haven't fired my M39.And it's eating me up.

Have a 91/30 manufactured at Izveshk in 1943, all matching numbers. I'm on vacation right now so I can't put up any pics, but I will ASAP.

Welp, I am not sure if I added this one already but I can't seem to find the post if I did.

Add in a beautifully marked hex receiver 1921 Izzy to the list! Pics to follow soon otherwise it is just rumor. It has the beautiful cryllic writing like the one below I took off the 7.62x54r.net. It also had goobs of cosmolene all over it. Gonna take me a while to get this baby clean!

I added a run-of-the-mill 1943 91/30 Izhevsk to the arsenal yesterday. It's in good shape overall, but you can really tell from the roughness of the metal that it was a wartime rifle.

This forum was recommended to me by a friend. I picked up my first Mosin M44 last week at a local show for $150. It was a decent shape, but had a good amount of wear on it. Yesterday, I stripped it down, cleaned all the parts, and refinished all the wood. It took about 2-3 hours from beginning to end. I am a professional woodworker and furniture builder, so it was a very easy job for me. It has 4 coats of lacquer on it and is absolutely smooth as glass.

Here are some before and after pictures. Let me know what you guys think.

'42 Izzy M44 showing up for roll call.
Matching numbers and removed bayo, which doesn't help anything whatsoever except weight so when I find it again it's going back on.
Installed is a wuss pad which makes this rifle a joy to fire and the cursed muzzle brake.
Which I have to admidt did it's job if for nothing else than solicit grumpy stares from the guy with the AR next to me at the range that day.
Cursed because I must have bumped it at some point causing the setscrews to bend turning the thing into a paperweight.

Look for an SA stamp somewhere on the receiver on the one with the swivels ( especially if its the Tula). You might have found a twin sister to my M91, which is a Finnish capture.

Nice M91s

Both at online auctions. Paid $130 for the Westinghouse and $100 for the 1891. Plus $35 for shipping. So $265 for both.

I went to a gun show today. Made me feel good about the price I paid for my Mosin. Cheapest one at the show was $125, more than what I paid, and not nearly in the same shape. One very similar was in slightly better shape but about twice what I paid...

They had decent prices on the M44's I saw, though.
