She didn't have a price on her guy said make me an offer . So I offered $70 he jumped on it . Hehehehe . You guys are right this is a disease . |

Attachment 23322 | I paid $80 for mine, but it has a laminated stock.
Fortunately, it isn't that expensive a disease. I shudder to think what would happen if i contracted Garanditis.

Well I bought my first Mosin when I was 11 from Interordanance (through my parents) and it was my first high powered rifle. It's a '43, not sure what maker but probably Tula. I've put at least 900 rounds or so through it. I'm planning on taking pics of the reciever soon so I'll post 'em after a while..
Also, a thin peice of wood cracked off once while shooting (right by the bolt housing) and made a crack in the stock handle which cut me on my right hand webbing so I dont plan on shooting it any time soon..

This is posted elsewhere but I thought I should make it official and post here.
Bought a counter bored 1934 Tula 91/30 about 2-3 weeks ago. Arsenal job so I Dawn Power Dissolved the stock and refinished it with BLO cut with spirits and beeswax.

Next one I get that is an arsenal refinish (or in craptacular shape) I will do with Tung oil and see how different it looks.

Next one I get that is an arsenal refinish (or in craptacular shape) I will do with Tung oil and see how different it looks. | I recently re-did my enfield in formbys high gloss tung oil finish. Turned out exceptional, but don't follow their directions. Their directions say to rub it into the wood but tungoil finish has varnish in it, so what I did was follow minwax's directions for their tung oil finish and let it sit 5 to 10 minutes and took a lint free cloth and wiped the excess. It started adding shine and got shinier and shinier everytime I did it. Next piece of walnut I do I'm going to sand it in though for about 4 or 5 coats to help fill the grain....
