That is one beautiful finish Ironsight. I'm partial to red mahogony as it's closer to the original (not the arsenal crap), but you had enough grain in that chunk of birch to make it a beauty(!).
Well done.

My latest - a 1944 Izhevsk M44 with matching #s. Counterbored but looks like it will be a good shooter.

2-91/30's Izzy
1-91/30 Tula
1-91/59 Tula
1-M44 Hungarian
4-M44 Izzy (1 being a 1943)
1-1925 91/30 Tula Hex (Or should I say will be here Tuesday)
All matching except the Hungarian.

Which picture will we slobber more off of?
Probably depends on how bad our Mosinitis really is.

Well I made it too saturday, and the gunshow in Topeka. Thought it would NEVER get here..... Anyway, I picked up an M44 ( will post pics here in a bit) However I'm unsure who made it, the markings in front of the bolt are 02 1953 ( I assume it was made in '53, well after the war) then the serial number. I have a few other questions too since this is my first one but will address those in another thread. BTW took it out and put a few rounds thru it, WOW, think I'm hooked.

Well since I finally got one, I guess now all I have left to do is join the Mosin Men group.
