Here are some pics of my M44

Serial number scratched in near the butt plate

Appears to be a stock repair

Upper hand guard is a little darker

I had one in 2002, but sold it. I just picked up a 1924 Izzy this week from Big 5 for $100.

After playing around with these neat pieces of history, I have a new found respect for the men who carried these things on a daily basis. Those guys must have been tough. That 44 is not light. lol

I have a M91/30 took it to the gunsmith to have the sights removed and grinded down then rebluing and polishing the metal, sent complete bolt away to be bent and polished and saftey pull ring mod. I purchased an ati stock for it still have to do the trigger and a couple of other things. Will post pics when its finished!

Sorry for the bad pic, its a cell phone pic but this is one interesting Tula ex-dragoon.

This rifle started life as a 1928 tula dragoon, and along its way in time it's seem some very interesting things. One thing I noticed about this rifle, is its a CCCP tula dragoon made in 1928, CCCP is pre-1928, and the next thing that got me was the fact that the top of the receiver is stamped with a hammer, sickle, and wreath which would mean this is an izhevsk receiver right? Well, I took the barreled action out of the stock, and looked at the tang... it has no tang date which means the receiver was made somewhere in between 1891 and 1894 so cool! Next thing I notice, that it has a tula hammer stamped on the bottom of the tang, so how the izhevsk stamp got on there I'll never know but this thing has seen some things in its time!

I own two. A standard issue Tula with a hex receiver and a sniper with a PU scope. These guns are a hoot to shoot. The ammo is cheap and mine are very accurate. I do not use corrosive ammo. I frequently do not have time to clean my weapons immediately after a shooting session. I am, however a fanatic about keeping my guns in top condition. I clean my guns at the earliest opportunity but not always right after I come home from the range,
I will not take one of my guns to the range before it has been thoroughly cleaned and it is ready for my sons or grandson to shoot.
