range report

i gotta ask, how the he#% are you supposed to get tight groups when you can't even see the black at 100 yards? gonna see the optometrist this week to see if glasses are in order.
these are from my m44 with 1954 bulgarian yellow-tip heavy.
shots with x's are with the bayonet in. all the rest are with it affixed.

You sound like me, I can't see squat with open sights anymore. The best thing I've ever done was putting the scope on my M-44. It's not really optimal for target work as it has a center dot with tapered posts but it's fine for minute-of-deer out to 200-250 yds.

the only way i can do it is to have my spotting scope right next to me and put my rifle in a benchrest.
squeeze one off.
look
repeat
and thats with my new glasses

and i hate black targets!
i use the other side and put an orange paster on it.

Yeah, the eyes are getting old. I can't see things close up, looks like I'm on that list too. Try lighter colored targets, that may help.

Steve, with the possibility of dems in the whitehouse you could probably get the "deer identification and safety marking bill" through as an addnedum to the wildlife protection act. heh heh.

For me it's a scope required for everything beyond 50 yards... ok 25 yards... ok feet. Yards, feet, what's the difference?

What did you write? I can't see to find my glasses to read it?

I've found a target with a bigger bullseye really helps. Like about 6 feet across!!!

I have always worn glasses but now I can't see a 30 cal bullet hole at 25 meters on a white and red target. Sad but true. Am going to scope one of my Mosins just have not decided which one to scope. It will be one of my M44s but need to get them all three out and shoot them to see which one shoots the best.
Why is it so hard to pay more for a darn scope than I paid for the rifle?

if your grouping looks like a shotgun test pattern like mine. it makes it hard to tell if the gun is worth a scope!

The 2-7 x 32 scout scope has done wonders for my 100 yard target accuracy.
