Nice photos & bikes! Just one question: How do you carry your MN on a bike? I don't see a gun rack.
PS. Married life is GREAT!

Actually, I shoot trap all the time and use the Wing (and used my former BMW and Suzuki). I use a breakdown case for the gun and strap it to the back seat, load up my ammo and shooting accesories in the saddlebags and go to the range.

As far as married life, at 42 I still don't know. I'm currently engaged and it'll remain that way for a while, until at least one more child has left the nest.. A couple of years, at least.

Bah.. Enough domestic talk..

Hey, my M1 Carbine from CMP has finally hit the Estore!!!

I like the big Wing. I found it used last year with only 13K on it. I ride the KLR for my solo stuff and the Wing for 2-up and long distance stuff. The 1500 is nice, but I'm currently looking for a used 1800.. Actually more sporty ride, better brakes, and better fuel mileage as an added bonus..

Now to find a nice base model 2003 or so..Hunting of a different sort.

Yep, I can see, Paper you know good bikes. I have never owned one but ridden a lot of them when I was younger. I would love to get one just to tool around town with. Heck, I would even settle for a scooter!

Married life is worth it. I understand wanting to wait until another bird has left the nest. When I married my bride she had 4 of 5 still at home. Made for some challenging times living with three teenagers in the house but I would do it again in a heart beat. I now have 4 in house shooting buddies!!!

Maybe "the guys" will make a run to J&G next weekend. This weekend is Festival Of The West over at Rawhide, and it's always fun (black powder and all).

The plan is to head up to J&G the following Saturday mainly for ammo. A very nice two and a half hour drive to Prescott (a great little town). I bought my Excellent grade (new and unfired) Yugo SKS at the J&G store for $149 (a year ago). I looked at the different grades, and shooter grade ($99 at the time) is generally an ok, but well used, "good" rifle by normal standards, and subject to the "luck of the draw". Spend the extra $20 for the Very Good grade SKS (pretty nice). The guarenteed deal is the Excellent (mostly new) version for $229 (marked down $20).

The prices for Mosins are pretty much the normal price (check the website). The real deal is the 1944 Tula M44.

first off ....I had some leg problems several yrs ago from heavey lifting and quit riding because ley legs wernt always there when we stopped (not good) The trike is my solution !!
Second << I got my mosin fix and ordered a 91x30 from J&G for 59.95 when it comes I will remove it from the stock and put it in the one I refinished!!( unless the one that it has has redeeming qualitys of course)then may have to order another LOL
Then will sell the original stock on e bay

got screwed on the SKS stock off of e bay the forearm cover is cracked and bearly holding together I an trying to work something out with the guy but you know how that crap goes.. I can probably save it but hate paying good money for something that isnt as discribed..If I break down my yugo I can glue the stock and let the yugo gas tube hold it in place

Marion, Meant to tell you that SOG has SKS yugo "parts rifles" for a great price. I think they are less than 100 or there abouts. Says cracked stock or missing small parts what ever that means.

Scooter?? Ewwww...

Oops.. Sorry.. I forgot I have one of those, also..

150cc 4 stroke Chinese scooter. It'll do 60 easily, gets 75mpg, holds over 3 gallons of gas, and it's just plain FUN!!

Believe it or not, for city driving where speeds don't get over 45mph, it's a perfect vehicle..

I bought mine from a distributer and had it delivered to work, where I finished the assembly (slap on the front wheel, mirrors, etc.) Looking forward to getting it out, too!!

I been looking at those. Unfortunately, other things take priority over that one. Step Daughter's car breaks and guess who she calls? He own dad? Nope wrong guess.

That scooter is nice, but it wouldn't last 10 minutes on the surface streets here in the desert. Posted speed limits are 45, but most treat it as a suggestion.

Competing with very large pick-ups and SUV's it's survival of the largest. The little bikes here are Sportsers. This valley must have a million bikes. Houses here are normally built with a separate garage for "the bike".

I quit hiway riding when I dumped my Bonneville (with 850cc bore kit) at 65 to avoid a nimnul passing in a no passing zone on Hiway 1 going to Big Sur. for as much as AZ riders hate helmets, leathers and helmet saved my life. I still motor in the dirt once in a while, and putt-putt on quads off road. But drive my Pilot on the road.

I completely agree. The scooters have their place and that wouldn't be one. I have jumped on mine and ridden up to visit my parents, 35 miles away, but I stay on the secondary roads and out of regular traffic.
It'll do 60 all day long on flats, but a headwind or hills will drop that top speed down to 45, and then I consider myself a traffic obstruction..

On the secondary roads, I might only get passed by one or two cars and I make sure I'm out of the way.. I average 15,000 miles a year on my bikes, and it takes an entirely different mindset when riding the scooter. On the other bikes, I can out accelerate most cars on the road, but on the scooter I'm just doing what I can to hold a touch over legal speed..

Of course, for me, it's fun..
