About SOG...

I know I was moanin about SOG being a PITA with the signed certificate they require in adition to the 03-FFL. To some degree I was right, but SOG is just doing an extra CYA for the ATF's benefit.

It turns out that this certificate is only required for people living in states that border the frigin' PRK. AZ, OR, NV. Oddly enough AIM and to my knowlege, none of the other on-line C&R guys seem to require this.

Once the ceritificate is on file (with you 03-FFL) you are good to go. It only took me 6 days to finally get a copy to them, due to my error on the FAX (it goes in face up???), and their server kept rejecting attachments (unfortunately I did not receive a non delivery notice so I still have my doubts).

I hope it was worth the hassle. The M39 and M38 had better be primo.

Bottom line... If you live in states that border the PRK you pay the price. As a final note...
Me Californicus

P.S. I just happened to think (dangerous thing to do) California doesn't give a hoot about C&R guns, so what's the deal? yes I will pursue this with SOG. So my next order should take about 3 weeks.

Geo, I am glad that they at least gave you an explanation. I hope the rifles are more than you ever hoped for! You have waited long enough that is for sure.

I don't want to be. Dogs woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep. Dogs are sleeping peacefully. I ought to wake them up just to show them what it feels like. But that would only start a loud barking "chase the dog" session and wake everyone else up too.

Well, they all have different rules for different states. Here in IL, you have to send the C&R gun dealers a copy of your 03 AND a copy of your FOID (Illinois Firearms Owners ID) and driver's license.

And the funny thing is, the last time I was at AIM and SOG, only AIM required me to show my FOID card, even though they had it on file, and that was just to buy ammo. At SOG, I walked out with a CZ82 and ammo and just showed my DL to prove that I was who I said I was.

They all have their own CYA issues, but in reality, it's their right to do what they feel needed to make sure they're fully legal and covering their asses. If that's what they have to do to feel secure and remain in business, so be it..

I'm not upset about the redundant paperwork, I understand that an error in record keeping can cost them their business (although no other major dealer seems to have this requirement).

This really isn't the place to air this complaint, and apparently nobody else has had this problem with SOG. Hopefully future orders will work out better.

Finally, they shipped on Friday. Woo-hoo!!!

Their e-mail server is junk (1 e-mail out of 5 made it through), so if you are going to send them stuff, use a FAX or phone it in.

Comon Wednesday, (UPS tracking has them departing Illinois on Saturday. It's like a kid at Christmas.

They leave SOG, which is just north of Cincinnati and UPS sends them to the big UPS distribution location in Chicago.

Now I, on the other hand...

Let's see, if the rifles arrive Wednesday, we need to give you at least a day to get them cleaned up just to be fair, that means we can expect to have a full range report by Friday?!

Good thing Mo. is a few miles from here. On the other hand I might just slather on some fresh oil stain and let you complete the refinishing.

Many photos will be forthcoming (and maybe even fifthcoming). I'm already planning to aquire one of the Tula M44's from J&G as well. So I will be up to my elbows in cosmolene. Ahhhhhhh.
