Hi 1st post

hi, I just left another forum cause I got the royal treatment for accedently spraying carb cleaner on my stock removing some of the finish, in an attemt to reseal and get a little like back into it I rubbed it down with butcher block oil. This caused the admin to lock my thread and insult me for altering an original WWII rifle. This is the site Home - Russian Mosin Nagant Page & Forums I will not be returning back to that bunch of wacks.

I hope this forum doesnt follow the same communism??

I have a m44 a few days old and havnt shot it yet.
My first Mosin rifle and cant wait to try it out.

thebluesbox... Hopefully, you'll get a royal welcome here on gunandgame.com. Personally, when I came here in 2002 to learn more about guns, and asked gun related questions, that might have made some members roll their eyes.

However, over time I've learned more that I thought possible from the friendly members here who listened to my questions, and made suggestions in their replies.

So...I fully expect that you'll find this forum a friendly and helpful site. Good luck and keep on posting.

Ox

I to switched from that website to this one. I have found this one to be more user friendly and have received several solutions to a couple of problems I have experienced with my M44. Glad to have you on site with us

We are just wild and crazy guys (and I think a couple of gals). But, rule of thumb: Always check to make sure that $80 MN isn't a collectable. hey it might be worth more than you paid.

Either way we don't care cause if you modify it (permanantly) it just raises the value of the remaining rare ones for everone else.

Seriously, MN's are a great rifle, and a fun-to-shoot link to a nearly 100 year history of manufacture, and combat in WWI and WWII. Now a 116 year legacy.

The think here is it's your rifle.

добро пожаловать!

(god I hope that says welcome)

Sure why not, if it makes you feel that much more welcome, I'll pop in and say hello and welcome to G&G a second time. lol I thought that post sounded familiar. When you do get that badboy all cleaned up and ready to shoot, post us some pictures. Like to see what you've done with yours. I'm pretty sure you saw the G&G member that painted or did his Mosin up in all blue? Looked perty good didn't it. If the Mosin faithful on here didn't ostracize him for that, I'm sure you getting a little brake fluid on yours won't be much of a problem either.

Someone is considering the possibility of modifying a rifle that belongs to them????!!!!!!:bangh ead:

If that M44 needs a stock refinish then there are some threads on here that can help you do that. Have fun with your rifle.

Welcome Home!!

blues, it's YOUR rifle. You take care of it however you want; use what works for you. I'm scared of carb cleaner myself, and plus which I tend to go crazy when I use a spray can of anything, on the "more is better" theory. I stick to mineral spirits, Windex, Hoppe's No. 9, gun oil and a little grease for the receiver when it comes time to clean my Mosin, but them when it comes to cleaning I'm conservative. My idea of 'radical' is to use a M-14 cleaning rod on a Mosin! But it's your rifle, so use what you are comfortable with.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. There's a good bunch of folks here, and while we say some outrageous things from time to time no one takes it personally, or at least not much. No flame wars, rarely lock-outs, and almost never banning. We try to have good internet manners and mostly we succeed. In fact, the biggest problems you'll find we have on here have to do with spelling and punctuation. So feel free to enjoy yourself!

thanks dude, I just bought me a shot gun cleaning kit only because it had the cleaning solution, oil, patches ... etc all in one kit, the rod is too big and wont be any use to me but the rest of the kit I can use all the hops stuff.

Welcome, TBB!
You'll fit right in here. Many of us have comitted the unpardonable sin of (GASP!) refinishing our old warhorses. Let the rabid "dust-collectors" spit & drool - while we shoot and enjoy our fine old relics!

By the way Ole Herbert is do'in something that kinda has me a little concerned !
When I put him on his beach towel where he can sit a spell and doze in my lap, he's gotton to where he runs up my belly and chest and lays down on my big shoulders up against my neck !!!
When I go to gently grab him to put him back on the towel he goes to grawlen like a dog kinda.
I'm afrade I'm gonna loose an ear !!! And this Lil feller can fart that would make a humans smell sweet ! And you can hear it too !
I have to get my wife to fetch a carrot to get him down from there, but once he's ate the mini carrot he wants back up there.
What to do ?...A.H

Edit : He's even gotton jealous of the remote control too ! He wants to bite it ! He must be gett'in old, he didn't use to be this way.

I can't even sneak a candy bar anymore because he can smell it a mile away.
He goes ape chit if I don't give him a tiny pinch !!! Snickers is his favorite.

Edit again : Herbert ain't no RODENT !!!

welcome tbb This is the best forum ive found yet, and im not looking any farther. You do what you want with your own stuff, if its something stupid like I do sometimes, youll only get ribbed a little bit about it, but after the ribbing you get many suggestions from very knowledgeable people about how to straighten out your mess;-/

AH, what's the issue you have with Herbert curling around your neck while you're sitting? I had a cat that liked to ride curled around my neck like a mink stole, purring all the while. Maybe he just likes the view from up there.
