Hello

hi im new here just purchased my first M44 never shot it yet.
Got the ammo and all just waiting for some time to go try it.
I was at Home - Russian Mosin Nagant Page & Forums
this forum where they locked my thread for altering my stock???? What a buncha wierdos.
I accedently got carb cleaner on the wood while cleaning the cosmoline off and it removed some of the fishish. So I rubbed some butcher block oil on it to help seal it and give it back some darkness. Well when I posted this the people at that forum freaked out. Its my gun aint it???? Cant I do what I want with it... whats it any of a forums business???
Anyway I hope this forum isnt so communistic.

If you were altering a rare version we might advise against it, but in the end it just makes the remaining originals worth more money.

M44's and WWII issued 91/30's were made in the millions, so the chance of a true collector being in that batch would be rare. Maybe a 1943/44 M44 Tula might give pause, so you might want to check to see if your M44 is stamped 1943 or 1944 with a Star and an arrow in the middle on the reciever(that's a Tula arsenaled M44). The rest were made in the Izhevsk arsenal by the millions and clean up real nice.

You should always check to make sure that you didn't luck out and get a true collector, as messing around (like any other antique) is money out of your pocket.

Welcome to the freindliest Mosin Nagant board around. Some of us are weird (not me of course), but you will get used to it. We even have a gunsmith or two in the family as well.

Mosinitis is incurable and you will buy more...

SOunds like the poor boy version of AR-15.com. Jackasses. The guys at Glocktalk can get their heads pretty solidly up their asses at times, too. Apparently, their tupperware is infallible, depite the failures I see every month or so, just in my local area.

HAHAHAHAH i just got a big laugh out of those posts. Never have i seen so many people repeat the same thing over and over and over again. I'm sorry you even had to go through that. Some people are complete A**H***S! It's one rifle, what you pay? $100 for it? Personally I don't care what people do with THEIR rifle, it IS theirs for the main part. Look at my grandfather's Model 71, he drilled and tapped it back in the 60's and put a cheek rest on it, but it's still a Model 71 to me. I guess those guys seem to be super human or something like they have never committed a mistake. The only time i ever got "yelled" at on this server was when i asked for stuff for a speech i had to do, but I did make the mistake of not asking for small articles people have recently found, but instead my post sounded as if I was coming here for ALL my information. Trust me, everyone here is a big help, don't be afraid to ask questions here, there's no such thing as a stupid question.

I really hate when people think it's time to be a dick because a new person wants a good beginning load for whatever caliber they're new to. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Welcome to G&G. Plenty of others infected with Mosinitis for you to chat with.

Try not to get that break cleaner on any finished metal parts, won't be finished afterwards. But I'm sure you knew/know that. lol

I see no problem with doing what you want with YOUR gun. Those guys at that forum don't really allow any freedom when it comes to doing what you want to your rifle.

Here's my m44

Btw welcome to the forums.

I LOVE THIS RIFLE! I never thought of changing the color but it looks superb! It would even match the colors of our family room if you would want to decorate my wall with it!?!?!?

wow thanks for all the cool welcomes dudes! That is one cool rifle!

I'll post pics of my m44 later today, I didnt mess it up too bad with the carb cleaner, it just took a little of the darkness away, but putting butcher block oil helped bring it back to life a little. I still think it looks like a great rifle.

I feel the love here already!
Now this is the kinda forum Im used to and look forward to posting more here.
Thanks again!
