Just like Mike said:
1. I used a pair of vice grips and opened my spam can no problems. Ince three sides of the can were open, the job was done.
2. Once I opened the can, a very nasty smell came out of the box, almost like someone puked in there right before they sealed it up. That smell went away after a day or so.
3. As mentioned, I have had ZERO PROBLEMS firing this ammunition, and I must have put over 100 rounds of that ammo (and another 100 rounds of the hungarian heavy ball) with absolutely NO misfires or problems. In both cases of ammunition, I was absolutely shocked that ammo from the 50's and 70's could look like they just rolled off the assembly line (I am new to military surplus firearms and ammo).

LOL! Why don;t you just fill your pillow casing with ammo so you can drift off to sleep with the sweet sweet smell of surplus ammo?

Just got back from the range (25 yrd.). Shot heavy ball surplus in both the M44 & 91/30. Shot good in both with no FTF or bolt problems. More accurate in the 91/30 though.

Yes, the plaque of Mosinitis!
Symtoms include greasy palms of cosmoline and empty wallets.

That's why I sell stuff on eBay - to support my shooting habit without affecting the family budget. Since it's my stuff I'm selling my wife gets no say on what I do with the money.

I've only opened one of my two cans so far. there was no white powder inside, and there was no smell at all except the faint whiff of brass and old paper.
