My Russian M44 came today

Well finally got it and what can I say..... looks and feels like a 79 buck gun but thats what it is. washed all the cosmo off it and blew it out with brake cleaner , not to bad on that part, bore aint to bad...little frosted.Cleaned it a bit and oiled it some, not sure if I'll do anything else with it other then just shoot it, sorta disapointed in the laminate as it didnt look like it took to well to the front stock but rear stock looks like it would clean up nice if I thought about it. .Came with the Oiler and tool kit and leather ammo pouch and sling all that in good shape.oh... does have all matching numbers tho for what its worth. Bought this gun as a wall hanger bang around gun so have to say its about what I expected lol

congrats, you will have lots of fun with that!! looks like that stock has some nice grain rom what i can see! now get out there and blast off a few and tell us how it shoots!

I hunted deer with mine this year. It was fun trying to find the ammunition that works best. 203 gr Silver Bear was surprisingly accurate in mine and made an excellent deer round.

That is some nice looking metal (at least in the photo's). Once you shoot it you may change that wall-hanger idea.

I agree with everyone else on it being a nice rifle. Definately shoot it first before letting it collect dust on a wall.

Don't have one myself as of yet Righteous, one of many on my wish list though. But can totally relate to what you mean about disappointment though, as far as what you got and what you expected that is. That's what can happen when your not familiar with what you ordered for one, another words your first one, and that's what can happen when you by it sight unseen also.

All in all, from the pictures, it looks as good as any others I've seen posted. It may surprise you and although it don't look as good as you'd like, it might shoot beyond your belief though? Shoot it and let us all know. I hope that aspect of it blows your mind and you have a blast with it. Good luck, be safe and enjoy...

I have spent a hell of lot more money on firearms that were not even half as good as a Mosin. Shoot it! See it breathe fire and maybe you will be encouraged. Plus, at 18 cents a shot it shoots cheap stuff!
