| $50 M44s Hey y'all. I went over to Centerfire Systems' HQ about 2 hours ago. I asked to see those $50 M44s and they said it was no problem. He got me one and I kinda checked it over. Well... It was absolutely covered in cosmoline. Real nasty stuff... Urg. The one he showed me looked to be in pretty okay condition at first glance, except for one part of the stock where the bayonet was hitting. It was, for lack of a better word, "splintering". Sorry I couldn't get any pictures. >_< My mother has the camera and she's out of state. Again, I just started getting into firearms... So I'm sure there's something that I missed that one of you older guys would've seen. Just trying to tell you what I can. ![]() If you want me to elaborate on something, just ask and I'll see what I can do. Thanks all! -Ferro |

| Thanks for going over and taking a look, Ferro!! I feel better about my order. I'm not expecting a perfect batch of rifles, and I know they'll take them back if I'm not happy with the purchase (with a slight fee).. The reason I was nervous was the fact that I just shipped back three K98's to Century. They were convereted to .308, and listed as fair, and they were junk.. Bores were comepletely corroded and pitted to the point where I could barely find any rifling.. I felt they weren't safe to shoot, and they're on the way back. I'm hoping that these from Centerfire will be at least shootable. Anything above that will be better than I could ask... Since I'm cheap and greedy, I ordered a batch of 5, which knocked the price down to $40 each, and my shipping total for all 5 rifles came to less than $30. The best of the batch will be converted to a scout rifle, and the rest will just be for shootin'.. ![]()

| Thanks for the heads up. I have a feeling all the ones for $50 bucks are that or worse. And who knows what one could find under all that glopped on cosmo. Maybe a mint one? lol Thanks for going over there though.

| 5 rifles for 200 bucks! I say that is a great deal and worth the hassle. I am VERY tempted to at least buy one. I just wish my damn C&R would get here!!!!! When do you think your rifles will be in, Paper?

| Not a problem, guys. I just look for a reason to go over there. If I could get some money, I'd like to do what Paper plans to do with the best one of the batch. I think it'd be a nice learning process. |

| Dunno.. I talked to them yesterday and they said they had bunch of orders to fill. They called because they couldn't find my license, even though they've been sending me catalogs for a couple years, right after I sent them a copy of the license.. The lady there kept calling me "Honey" and "Sweety"... Makes me wonder if I shouldn't go pick them up in person..![]() Anyway, I PDF'd them a copy, as well as my FOID and DL just to make sure all the bases were covered. I'm guessing they'll ship sometime next week and should only take 2-3 days to get up here from KY. I'm headed for Upstate NY for the first part of the week, but will be home to sign for them later in the week.. The UPS hub is getting to know me by my first name.. ![]()

Heck, everytime I get an extra dollar or two I wind up buying a rifle or two! Marion, I DO know where there is a Chinese SKS for sale. Asking price is 225. Funny thing is he had it advertised at 200. Then just as I was about to buy it he took it off his web site. Then a couple days later a Chinese SKS shows up for 25 dollars more! The thing I like about the guy is that the way he grades firearms is very conservative. What he calls Very Good condition is most people's excellent condition.

| For as much fun as getting 5 M44's for $200 sounds, I would rather spend $50 less on a 44' Tula, or $120 more for a B barrel. I'm running out of room and, spousal pitty, so I have to be more selective. ![]() |

| Thor's Hammer ![]() | Ha-Ha! I found 2 Chinese SKS's for sale! Both are Paratrooper models, and were manufactured to take AK mags! The best part is, no one can find them, LOL!

| They should be the best kind! Lots of history and character. Just hope there are not weird spooky stains.
