M44 Questions

Just some M44 questions.

I've heard that the postwar guns tend to be in much better shape (makes sense). Were post war M44s even issued to troops, or just packed away in storage? I figure that the ones not exported to war zones may have been used as training guns, but don't know.

Also, I remember reading that "Polish M44s" are much nicer in level of finish, etc. How do you identify one of these guns? What arsenal made them?

BTW, my wife surprised me with a nice, non-counterbored 1944 Izzy M44 with laminated stock. Pictures to follow.

The post-war rifles seem to be nicer, but I have also seen individual rifles that disprove this idea. The Polish models are stamped with an "eleven" inside an oval.
