| Range Report! I shot my 91/30 again today. Most notably, I hit a water bottle about 45 meters away on a pole sticking out of the ground... (Had to jump a creek to get to it. Hehe) All in all it was good fun. I fired the same stuff as last time. That steel case zinc coated stuff. Also shot 5 rounds of the Sellier & Bellot soft tip. My little brother shot it for the first time too. We told him to brace for the recoil and I still don't really think he was expecting a hard kick to the shoulder. Hehe. You should've seen his face afterwards. Priceless. All in all it was good fun. Can't wait to go again. I may even pick up Yugo SKS for next time! =] |

| Sounds like you all had a great time! Nothing like seeing little brother humbled, huh? Don't know if you have seen it or not but there is a YouTube video of a kid shooting a mosin. It is hilarious. He takes a shot. Recovers from the pain. Takes a shot, recovers from the pain. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Definitely get that SKS! I now have a yugo and two russians. They are addicting!!!

| Ugly Mosins??? My history of Mosins: I never even looked at the Mosins for MANY years. After all, I had a British .303 to blow stuff up with. Then I sold it to pay for my son's broken collar bone. A great many years later (about 9) my wife bought me several pistols so I could get back into shooting. After 2 years I started looking at a table of surplus guns at gun shows and decided I'd like to replace the .303 with something. Time to research. While searching the web I stumbled onto this website and saw a Humor section. Liking jokes, I clicked and the first entry was AK vs. AR vs. MN's. I woke my wife up sleeping 2 floors up! Next gun show I looked at Mosins. Thought the M44 was ugly with the bayonet but liked the M91/30. A few months later I bought a 91/30 for $79.99 plus tax at a gun store from my youth. LOVE IT FROM THE FIRST SHOT!! During the following week I took it to the range and had a lot of comments. One guy said "Here-try my M44 with the bayonet extended." Love at first shot again! A week later went to the gun show and got one for $89.00 OTD. 4 days later bought a can of 440 rounds light ball and then a can of heavy. I now spend as more time here and less on eBay selling! Credit card more used though over the internet! Wife grumbles but still pays it off. Moral of the story: Mosinitis stikes fast and bites hard!

| I DO pray on this easter that she never realize the truth of how many I have. Not to mention the SKSes that seem to be multiplying in my safe.

| Well, after reading that I confirm that I am a mosin kind of guy. All except the Olga's toe nails thing.

| Yeah, I think that comparison was what lead me to this sight as well. I haven't read it for a while and I am sitting here with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard, and my wife thinks I am insane (normal). Wife... "Whats so funny about that?" Back to cleaning the M39... |
