good answers already for the sticky bolt, but also look for one more thig.
my 91/30 had severe 2x4 bolt and i noticed a deep scratch on the fired brass cases - always in the same place. could not see the scratch on the WOLF steel cases.

found a burr in the chamber mouth.
removed the burr AND the WOLF coating GLUE .
both together did the trick

Hey wunghungalo why would you being so far away, worry about what someone else in another country is doing. Aren't there people on your continent that are like communists and killing people and stuff like that.Thats by far more of a serious thing to worry about, I don't know about you but while on this forum I wouldn't want you to "swallow a camel and choke on a nat"

I just got a bore snake and was wondering how that would effect the cleaning process?

Would you run the snake through just like a normal patch? what about the different brushes, do I still need to run those through the bore on a regular basis?

Thanks and Gig 'em

PdP, a boresnake is a great aid to normal cleaning. I use one at the range along with Gunzilla, a small funnel and a bottle of Windex to clean my Mosins after shooting.

But remember what this thread is all about. For the first time cleaning of a rifle coated in cosmoline, with a bore that may or may not have been cleaned before the gun was dipped in cosmoline, it's not the right tool. The object of the exercise is to get the cosmoline out. You'll accomplish that better with mineral spirits, boiling water, and bronze bore brushes followed by patches you can throw away, than with a boresnake that will be hopelessly gunked up with cosmoline after a single pass through the bore.

I've seen rifle barrels so clogged with cosmoline that you couldn't even drop the leader down the barrel to get it started.

New owner of a 1931 Tula Mosin. Cleaned it yesterday using the mineral spirits method then took it out to the range. Thanks for the cosmoline removal tips. It's a great shooting gun! I posted a picture in the Role Call thread. Once again, thank you!
