I heard back from the seller of the 30-30 mosin. It is a converted m44 NOT an m38. At least he picked a common rifle to bubba.

LOL! that is true. I kinda feel bad. The guy is out of town and his poor wife was trying to answer the question I asked.

If someone could fix the feed problem it would make an interesting rifle. Kinda interesting. I may just bid on it!

Its gonna be all about the magazine! And case overall length, and rim size difference. Or maybe it's just a thang with the interruptor!?!?

LOL!!! Marion, your wife is a wise woman. And very patient.

So this bannerman rifle is not a shooter because it can not handle the pressures of the 06?

The 7.62x54 case is wider in the body than a .30-06. All Bannerman's boys did to the rifles was run a .30-06 chambering reamer into the 7.62 chamber. The .30-06 case would sometimes burst upon firing. Not a good thing.

My mind is still blown as to why someone would bubbafy a Mosin in such a way. Usually, modifications are meant to be improvements.

Of course, this is from someone who refuses to bubbafy his M39 even with a scope.

I bet the guy had this M44 that had a shot out barrel. So he thought "Hey, what if I just tinkered with it some. I have this 30-30 barrel....". If it would feed properly might be fun! 30-30 ammo is 9 bucks a box and hunting ammo for the Mosin is about that and more so might make sense.

Well, maybe not.

I went back and reread this thread. Great input, and a whole lot of BS! I love it! Soda and ketchup, ROFL! True, true, true! 7.62x39 is too light? You might as well say "I wouldn't trust a 30-30 for deer under 100m". WHAT? Someone ought to buy that 30-30 Mosin and hand it out as an annual "G&G Mosin Bubba of the Year Award" LOL
