So, get a C&R. 30 bucks for 3 years... if you plan on collecting beyond the Big5 offerings it's the way to go.

Thanks Glockmeister. I went over to Sportsmans Guide and bot a can of 7.62x54R. Not a bad price. Had to get other stuff too of course.

You're very welcome. I only wish I had a Mosin so I could take advantage of the sale I linked or the one Ellsworth linked. I can only hope I'll soon have one.

I pricematched at sportmansguide with the wideners website about an hour ago. wideners shipping was 19 bucks, sportsmans guide was only 10, order total 57 bucks for 300 rounds. not too bad.

A little off topic but isn't it funny how ammoman is in new jersey but cannot ship to new jersey?

Went to my 'smith's shop this afternoon here in the PRK and he has 300 round sealed packs for $70. They are stamped "54" on the case head which he says is the date of mfr (I thought it was the caliber designation), and insists they are all _non-corrosive_? But I checked the above link for the '55 head stamped stuff and it looks identical so I think he's mistaken.

Beats me, but I plan on cleaning right away anyway. I figure that's a fair price considering everything, but it pays to shop around.

Based on what you say, that stuff should be corrosive!!! All military ammo should be considered corrosive JMHO.

My boss showed me this product a few weeks back. I would have posted it here if I was a member then. Sorry. But it looks like surplus that is non corrosive. Pretty cheap for non corrosive stuff. 150 rds for 50 bucks, that was with shipping. I was told by the customer service department that it is also non magnetic. I will post results when I get it on monday.

15 Rds. 7.62x54r M30(j) 182 Gr. Ammo, Rifle Ammunition, Military/Surplus, Ammunition Shooting Bullet Boattail at Sportsman's Guide

Tex et al,

On closer inspection of the box's this is marked nny 7603 and looking closer, at the rim, marking is nny 7.62 x 54 which I'm pretty sure is Berdan primed non corrosive ammo made by Wolf (same marking as Wolf Gold). I'm tempted to order some just for the heck of it as it's ~$.10 a round cheaper than Brown Bear.

But since they don't have any in stock it may be a moot point.

Us them

Either way Vaneska' barrel is safe.

the brown bear is non corrosive but it isnt surplus I juust bought 500 rnds of 7.62x39 for a hundred bucks I dont know what the 54 is going for now

I REPEAT!! ALL surplus is to be treated as corrosive !!! reguardless of what the dealer says

50 bucks for 150 rnds is not cheap!!

Id say its cheap if its not corrosive and non magnetic! i mean compared to commerical loads. that was with shipping though...
