| I'm just sayin': When is the last time you have seen a commercial bottom stamp on MilSurp? I'm thinking that this is legit non corrosive ammo, similar to the current Wolf offering in this caliber. Again, a moot point as it's not available. |

| I just checked the ammo from sportsmans guide! Non magnetic! The head stamp says 1989 which probably means this was produced in a wolf factory and hopefully non corrosive. Either way I am bringing my windex! I can now shoot at the range without worrying about the cost of buying winchester! Whoo hooo! I take that back.... The headstamp on this stuff looks more like this.. Yugoslavian 1976 7.62x54r Lead Core Heavy Ball Which is made in Yugoslavia. Probably not in a wolf factory then.... Doesn't say anything about corrosiveness. Will do more research... Last edited by sh4d0ww4rri0r; 04-07-2008 at 03:26 PM. |

| When in doubt, windex out! Besides, I love the look on the other shooters at the range when I bring out the windex and spray the barrel out. They look at me like, "What thuh..."

| Would windex and a boresnake right after be a good idea? What retailer carries boresnakes? |

| Not a bad idea at all. Just about any retailer should have the bore snakes. Even Wally world carries them. You can also order them online from Cheaper than dirt, midway and just about all other sporting good retailers.

I always thought hoppes made them, but then it puzzled me why from website to website the colors were different but always advertised as hoppes brand. | |

| Well, even though it's , (been wanting to use that emoticon one time and saw the chance and did. lol) check to make sure what you want is what is actually in the package. I bought one, and the caliber on the package WAS NOT the caliber in the package. Almost had a major problem had I not caught it. Also, for those not familiar with boresnakes, there is one in each caliber for rifles and for handguns. Generally the brass weight is longer on the one for rifles and obviously then shorter on the ones for revolvers or semi auto pistols...

| Thanks for the heads up Billy Bob, I never noticed that. Probably because it's so dam small a stamp. Right where the string is crimped to the brass weight. It still wouldn't have made a difference on the one that I had that was packaged wrong. Stamped or not, wrong size in wrong package. I only caught it because it was the first one I bought and I was about to use it so I was looking it over and thought it seemed a little big for .17. I never knew they were stamped so I just decided rather then risk it I got another one. Had thrown that one in a box so I still had it, and using your info,I went and got it and looked; turns out, someone put a .22 boresnake in a .17 boresnake package. Have an extra one now. lol Again, thanks for the heads up.

| Just to bring this back on topic for one message... I bought 300 rounds of Bulgarian heavy ball for $49.95 at J&G last weekend or nearly $20 more than the last time I bought it there last summer. The price of reloadable ammo and bullets is getting FR. |

| That's why it's time to start reloading. I'm about to get a new set up. Just deciding on which one until the guy comes to get the car he bought from me. Then I getting a lot of new stuff. That's all I'm saying. lol
