Help finding a "pull ring" safety for my Mosin.

I have been searching around gunbroker and ebay for one of these modified safety "pull rings" for my Mosin, but it seems they cannot be found anywhere currently for sale.

There was this old auction for one
GunBroker.com guns: MOSIN NAGANT PULL RING BOLT COCKING PIECE, NICE! (item: 96240665 ends: Apr-02-08 0348 PM)

but my searching otherwise has turned up empty-handed. Anyone have luck finding one o' these? I think it would be great to have an easier way to engage the Mosin safety - currently I just pull the bolt out of the rifle as a "safety"

Edit:

DOH! I did find one... Call me stupid!
Same seller still has some up for auction!

Yep, I contacted Jim before I bought one off gunbroker. He says he sells them but really doesn't want to stock them. Not enough demand. Plus, his are 5 bucks more.

I received mine and it works great!

Ok.. I've got a question about these..
Are they made of stainless or something?

The reason I ask is that I've been a TIG welder for more years than I care to remember, and I've thought about welding a part of a stainless ring on the back of a bolt and polishing it, but I don't want to screw up the finish.

The cocking knob on the Mosins are very magnetic, so I know they're not 300 series stainless, but I'm wondering what they are? I'd like to weld a ring on a bolt, and while I'm at it, cut the bolt handle and make a bent and swept bolt like this.

I just don't want to screw up the existing finish to do this.. Are they chromed?

The seller states they are polished. Mighty fine polishing job if I do say so, so good it looks chromed. Email the guy and ask him. Can't hurt.

No just tell him you only want to know if they are chromed or just one hell of a polishing job. I don't see how asking that is asking how he does it or what he uses. Go for it. Least that can happen is he won't reply or he won't tell you if he does reply.

Thanks for the prodding.. I just sent him a question through one of his auctions, and I'll let you know the results when I find out..

Polishing is a dirty word to me today.. I spent the entire day polishing a 300" long strip of 1" wide stainless to remove all scratches.. I'm currently up through 320 grit, and I've still got 400, 600, and 800 grit to go through tomorrow, and of course this is by hand..

When it's done, I'll expect it to be around a 3 micro finish or better. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow.. My hands hurt and I'm tired of polishing.. Luckily, next week I'll be doing the same to a 200" wide pc while working in Jessup, Georgia.. Bleah..

Good for you on sending the email. It can't hurt anything and I bet he gives you an answer. Bet it is just polished? lol But yea, LMK...

All I know is that what ever they are made of they look very good! If I understand correctly they are the ring off of a Swiss K31. They sure make the safety on the M38 a lot easier to work. If I ever decided to turn one of my Ivan Crockett rifles into a Sniper retro I will definitely have one of those on it as well.

You know, the more you make, the better you'd get at it.

Don't talk to me.. You just want me to get it perfected, in order to do the safety on your rifle.. I see right through your little game, you evil, evil man!!!

Actually Kismet, I'm most interested in this information in order to put a ring on your rifle.. I figure that if you can kill three deer with your gun this year, next year you'll kill 20 or more..

Southern Wisconsin's mighty deer hunter!! How many pheasants did you get this year?

Hey Paper,

If you get those rings perfected count me in for a couple! I have one and would love to have a couple more for my other rifles!

I especially want one for my Swiss K31!
