How Good Is This See-Thru Scope Mount?

I don't have the ability to drill and tap a Mosin. And I have heard people complaining about the poor quality of the replace-the-rear-sight rails, saying they don't lock down well and won't hold a zero.

Then I ran across this. I wish i could just isolate the pictures, but I can't.

Mosin Nagant See-Through Scope Mount - eBay (item 200213187086 end time Apr-10-08 0323 PDT)

If it is as advertised, it may be the solution to the problem of mounting a scope on a Mosin. The thing is, It costs as much as an M-44 hereabouts and even with a C&R, almost as much as a 91/30. And that's before you add in scope costs.

My question is, has anyone used one of these? If you have, how does it mount? I haven't had a reply yet from the seller to that question. I've concluded that due to eye age I need a scope on my rifle. What I haven't decided is the best way to mount one on a Mosin. Thoughts?

Interesting mount - first I have seen it!

Another point though - you'll need to either modify your bolt with a bent handle, or buy one. More expense.

The see-through part also isn't big enough to be practical. But that might just work. Looks pretty good.

Hummm well I've used see through mounts on other guns and have never had any problems.
The set up in the picture is interesting to say the least.
One thing certain it should work but I would coat the screws real well with Loc Tite.
It seems a 2nd quick follow up shot might be off due to vibration after the rifle is fired the first time because it fastened down at one point.
Whats everyone else think ?

Cyr- This is a copy of a PE mount. I personally doubt the rail can hold zero with the weight of the scope and rings cantilevered that way. If you want this rig, buy a PE replica! If there is a structual engineer out there, tell me why I'm wrong...P.S., I have a BS as a minor!

OK
i got my structural engineer/thinking cap on.
CONS:
1 looks dumb
2 cumbersome
3 twig/stick/clothing magnet
4 expensive
5 must modify bolt
6 looks dumb
PROS:
1 nice and complicated so you will be too busy installing to get in trouble with your hoodlum friends
2 expensive so you wont have any money to get in trouble with hoodlum friends
3 hoodlum friends will tire of waiting for you so will leave to go shoot the mosins they installed scout scopes on so mother will be happy you are in your room quietly working on "some gun thing".

another thing with that set-up, with the recoil that scope will put a nice dinger around your eye.

on top of everything you will need to get your bolt altered with the bent arm. Doesnt really say how it mounts but it does say no drilling maybe it mounts bedded under the barrel or something, which is kinda funky.

I took a good look at the rifle in the ad. The stock looks like an aftermarket red laminate stock. That looks darn good on that rifle! I wonder if he make that himself or if there is a vendor out there selling them?

Really dressed up that old Mosin!

I think the PE or PU mount makes more sense. At least as a repro it will look nice! The PE doesn't require cutting the stock either.

Weaver rail can be mounted forward or rearward, allowing you to use a standard scope with a sniper bolt or a scout scope with the stock straight bolt.
